I was in Burney one night on business and my collegue and I thought we would pick a hotel when we got into town. Most of the hotels are very close to each other, so it was an easy mission. The Green Gables looked the most charming from the outside, but we decided to try the Shasta Pines as it had some larger new rooms. I stayed in a king suite and it was very clean and comfortable. The room was attractive with all new furniture including a couch, similar to a commercial suite hotel. It had a nice touch of a fireplace/heater that was a novelty. The grounds were a bit sterile-a lot of asphalt and concrete, but the owners were doing some planting. I would recommend this hotel if you want the creature comforts of a chain suite hotel. The owners were also very personable and helpful.
As for food in Burney, we went to the Mexican Restaurant and it was really decent.
