“Lovely little place”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

Visited today. It was a lovely family place, with plenty of toys and books to keep my 5 year old busy! The staff were very friendly and helpful. We ordered lamb shoulder, steak sandwich ,and toasted sandwich, all good and reasonably priced ,with 3 drinks came to £31. Had a very nice, relaxed feel to it and will be visiting again. Thanks for our experience

“Fantastic Hosts”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

Just come back from a trip to watch the Tour de France in Yorkshire. After a 7 hour journey from South Wales we pulled in to the car park of the Brown Cow at 8:30pm and what a welcome. Really good reasonably priced meal, decent ale, humongous glasses of wine and a super friendly landlord and landlady. They allowed us to spend the whole weekend in their car park, kept a table for us in the evening and offered to cook for us if we got back later than 9. The tour was wonderful and these fab people helped to make our trip. Hope you read this..... Thanks both!

“Poor”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

Friendly barstaff who obviously is a cat lover (the smell as you enter confirmed this) poor quality food, which was nothing short of cauterized gristle and dry meat. The side veg were as hard as snooker balls, and the fried egg on the gammon looked like an omelette. Having said that, the manager agreed the lamb looked dry (so why serve it?) And refunded the cost.

“GOOD FOOD BUT STRANGE ATMOSPHERE”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

A friend and I were due an evening out to catch up on our news and as it was a lovely evening, I suggested we went a little further afield than usual. A work colleague had recommended the Brown Cow and coincidentally, a colleague of my friend had also said how she had enjoyed it. The food was very good, I cannot deny this, but the pub had both a strange and a strained atmosphere. We felt distinctly out of place as the few customers in there were clearly local and were not especially welcoming. We definitely felt as if we were intruding. I was a little disappointed with our evening as colleagues' views plus the constant advertising in "Lancashire Life" led us to believe it was something it clearly wasn't. Maybe it was down to it being a quiet evening, I wouldn't like to say.

“Return visit”
Reviewed 25 May 2014 via mobile

Visited some 5-6 weeks ago and had great food great service and very good value....this time I had the hot steak sandwich (Lovely) My wife had the fish pie which she said was beautiful...her dessert was a Baileys cheesecake which the waitress supplied with 2 spoons in case I dared to attempt having some. One thing that stands out over and above the amazing tasty food is the friendly attentive service.....high standards for a reasonable price.Thankyou we will return.
