We stayed at the Ugadale in early June whilst golfing in the area. The hotel and location were excellent. Rooms were clean and very spacious. We ate in the Clubhouse Bar adjacent to the hotel, as the hotel restaurant was full. Food and service were excellent. The only let down (and why the review did not get 5/5) was the breakfast. The full Scottish breakfast was poor. The sausages were limp and tasteless and I was not expecting very fatty streaky bacon. There must surely be a decent quality butcher on the Kintyre peninsular that could provide good quality produce. That said, one of our party had the smoked haddock and poached eggs, which was excellent. Other than that you could not ask for more.

Thank you for your patronage and for sharing your thoughts. I am pleased to hear that your group enjoyed their stay with us.

We take great pride in our efforts to provide outstanding offerings in our restaurants at all times of day, so I’m sorry that your breakfast wasn’t up to your expectations. Many other customers have commented that they very much enjoy both our sausages and bacon, but as with all things, sometimes it’s a matter of preference. People in particular have commented favorably on our streaky (or side) bacon. In the future, perhaps we will consider offering both types of bacon – streaky bacon and back bacon. In the meantime, I will pass your comments along to our executive chef because we want everyone’s breakfast to be perfect.

We hope to welcome you back soon.

Greg Sherwood

Just back from a wonderful weekend of golf at Machrihanish with a large group of friends. There is no doubt that the wonderful weather we had enhanced the overall experience but the Ugadale Cottages along with the hotel facilities and separate restaurant and pub are simply brilliant.

the facilities are five star and the pub and restaurant literally adjacent to the cottages are perfect for a bunch of hungry and thirsty golfers who stagger back to bed at midnight!

The staff are all delightful and extremely helpful. The accommodation is 5 star and the gym and spa are useful extra additions.

A surprise stay at The Ugadale for our wedding anniversary was out of this world. From the delicious Italian themed meal, excellent service and stunning views this really was a night to remember. With a surprise stay in room 17 all I can say is "wow"..... The scenery from the window was breath taking and the room was immaculate and decorated to very high standards. The breakfast will definitely set you up for the day. The variety of food on offer was fantastic and tasted as great as it looked. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

A wonderful hotel - it is lovely to see an old building such as this being treated to a thorough refurbishment, and then backed up with excellent staff for whom nothing is too much. We arrived after a day traveling around Kintyre, and were made to feel very welcome by the staff, and provided with all the available options for dinner (a transfer into Campbeltown to the Royal Hotel for dinner was offered as another option). Had a lovely dinner in the clubhouse bar watching the waves breaking over the beach and back to the room for a fantastic nights sleep in the huge king bed. Any downsides? Not really, although I felt that the menu in the clubhouse pub could have been a little more adventurous, and made use of some more local ingredients, but this was a minor quibble (and I never did see the Kintyre Club menu, so can't comment on what was served there) and the food we had was delicious.

We will be back!

Superb comfy rooms and friendly staff. A couple of the front rooms are enormous with brilliant views. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Altogether a great standard of hotel in this (or any other) location.

We have just had another stay at Ugadale hotel.
From the real warmth of the welcome and assistance of Sandra , with her lovely interest in what we hoped to get from our stay, to the follow through into the bar where we decided to have a refreshment after our long journey.
Dean Scott was there to further the true hearty 'welcome back' cheer, and Louise is sheer Kintyre delight!
We can honestly say that this is the fifth time we have visited the Peninsula, and the Hotel, and it just gets better and better! Whoever chooses staff there has a real empathy for and with people. There is such a warmth, service with a smile, and so efficient, and the food was delicious! Weather was true Kintyre ...blustery, wet at times, and lovely sunshine revealed the beauty of this lovely part of our Land! We wish to thank Dean scott, and Louise, what fun, and still with a great eye for the care we like, and then to find that one by one, all members of staff were just so helpful and fun also! What more could you ask for? Warmth in spades, Efficiency to take pleasure from, and an hotel where the client is the most important thing, AND without fuss. Food to die for and lovely wines to enjoy! Get down to Machrahanish treat yourselves soon !

Room Tip: Ask for the magnificent Sea views, nothing quite like it!

This is an excellent hotel. We stayed in room no 1 with a beautiful view over the sea. It was tastefully furnished and very clean. I had only one remark and that is that the bed was hard and a bit uncomfortable. It is a truly charming hotel with helpful staff and several places to eat. As I don't golf but my boyfriend do, I had the most remarkable walks along the beach during his golf playing.

Room Tip: Don't miss to ask for a room with a view. It is a stunning view over the sea.
