Another visit to this friendly pub. It still manages to remain a good honest, down to earth, village pub. Distractions like Sky Sports, games machines, pool tables etc do not exist here. You may occasionally hear the click of dominoes or witness the intense concentration of a game of crib. So, if you want an unpretentious village pub with good food without any gastros attached you could not do any better than the Green Man.

We were able to actually talk to each other in comfort, the only noise was other people doing just the same. Our food was simple, fresh and delicious. There is a sensibly limited selection which means that the kitchen can provide good fresh meals individually cooked, no microwave pings here!!!

Visit the Green Man, you won't be disappointed.

Clearly the most inviting of the three pubs in Bradwell-on-Sea, situated close to the sea-wall and yacht marina. My wife and I called in for lunch. The menu was the usual pub grub. We elected to have the old faithful, ham, egg & chips @ £7.95. It was freshly cooked and promptly served, the home cured ham was a bit on the salty side for our taste. Other food being served looked pretty generous in size. Sadly there were one or two menu items not available on the day. The bar has a flag-stone floor with old scrubbed tables. The room was bedecked with old photos and paintings and a large open fire-place to keep the bar cosy in winter. There was a carpeted area with tables that lead through to a more formal restaurant at the back for evening meals. The bar served a good selection of ales and lagers.

At £35 pppn b&b, its never going to be a palatial place. The Welcome was friendly and the food and beer most excellent. Can recommend the doom bar beer.
Rooms are adequate. As noted above, not en suite. But is that such a huge problem? Is a characterful old inn, not a prefab could be anywhere hotel.
They had no staff available to do breakfast, but told us the night before, and arranged to leave something for us in the kitchen. Of expect at busier times of the year they'd provide full service. But the only other people staying were out early, so not worth staffing, and I'd agree. In the end, the cleaner popped the kettle on to make a lovely put of filter coffee.

Lovely pub, went in about 4pm on a Saturday afternoon just for a drink. Nice menus on the wall and all the tables with reserved signs on them. Good fire, warm and cosy.
BUT, the lady in there REALLY didn't want us there. She served us our drinks and then plonked herself down right next to us to read a magazine. No smile, no greeting, just hostility really. We aren't young and noisy or dirty, just two normal, middle aged people who were thirsty after a long walk.
Oh, one other thing; there was a sign behind the bar saying 'I can only be nice to one person a day, today is not your day. Tomorrow isn't looking good either.' Never a truer word, we won't go back.
This is the only time I've posted a review that was negative and I hope it's the last.

We were attending a wedding at a local venue but didn't want to stay there in case it was too noisy and we didn't get a good nights sleep. Ironically even a dormitory full of elephants could not have been as bad as our experience at The Green Man.

To be fair our room was large with sofa, table and chairs, en suite (no shower) and very squeaky bed. Much better than the pokey twin room with no en suite. As the other reviewer said it was very cold and we couldn't see a radiator, although there was a strange old fashioned sitting room heater.

The room was above the bar and we could clearly hear what was going on but didn't think this would be much of a problem until we were notified when we went back down that a party would be taking place and would go on until late. We imagined this to be about 12pm and thought no more about it. When we got back at just before 12pm the party was still going on and we were invited in for a drink, which we accepted (and had to pay for).

However by 12.30am we were flagging and so retired, on the way we checked with the bar lady who confirmed the party would go on for no longer than another 1/2 hour. This was not great but liveable with. In truth the party went on for another 1 1/2 hours until about 2am and then the stragglers continued to argue until they finally left at 2.45am.

We obviously complained the next morning and offered to pay 1/2, which given our experience we felt was more than fair. Not so the landlord who continued to haggle the price up. Feeling intimidated we paid up and fled.

I would not stay here again if it was the last place with a bed as they clearly don't care about their guests.

We arrived and went into a warm friendly pub where we had booked a room for £70 per night we knew it was a twin room but we did not expect not to have an ensuite bathroom and we wouldn;t have booked if we had known, the toilet bathroom had no heating neither did the landing, the heating in our room was only put on after our arrivival,, it was 1.5 degrees!
There were 3 couples staying and we had to decide what time we would ALL return together !!! as only one key !!
We went down to breakfast again all at the same time ,no cereal, fruit etc cooked breakfast no sausage! no side plates the toast was plonked on top of the breakfast no marmalade or jam, cook disappeared so last slice of toast was butter free,
I have never complained but it was a shame the place was VERY CLEAN but terribly overpriced for the quality of furnishings, lighting in the rooms was poor if you wanted to put make up on,
On a more serious note there was no signs in the rooms hall or stairs egarding fire escapes or the bright signs to follow, which is a complete breach of health and safety regs. in a public place,

Room Tip: Only pick the 1 room which is large and has en suite
