“Interesting ”

An interesting side trip in the Napa valley. Some interesting specimens of petrified trees and ranger led tours. Good place to do something different but rather small. May not be of interest to all. There is an admission fee.

“Rock solid trees”

Fascinating for some. A bit of a bore for others. Not really for families. Old Faithful was fun on a dreary December day

“Dead Trees...”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

Some people like this more than me... Taking in alll the sites of Napa County would take weeks. As cool as history is, you will find interesting tid-bits at the Petrified Forest.
The good news is it's on the way to the next exciting stop.

“Quirky natural wonder worth a visit”
Reviewed 2 July 2014

The fossilised remains of giant redwoods is quite fascinating, and made an interesting break point while on a journey through the area. Panels explain how the fossils were formed, how they were discovered, and excavated.

The entry price is a little steep for what will only take you about 45 minutes to explore. However on the whole I think it is worthwhile.

Clean toilets too!

“We really enjoyed it”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

This was a great change of pace from the winery tours and vineyards which can get a little monotonous after a while. It was really fascinating, and the friendly gentleman working at the information desk could not have been more friendly and helpful regarding other things to do & see in the area.

There was nothing earth-shattering about the experience, but the small fee was definitely worth it, and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
