My husband and I have been taking yearly trips to the Napa wine country for the last 5 years. I discovered Meadowlark on the Internet back then and we've been going back ever since. I can't fathom staying at another B&B, since we enjoy this one so much and Kurt and Richard take very good care of their guests. I've stayed at other B&Bs that feel like Grandma's house and smells funny. Meadowlark is contemporary, clean and has a great open feel. We have since gotten two small dogs and they welcome them. We enjoy traveling with our very well-behaved dogs so having them with us is a real treat. Richard has recommended some wonderful hidden gems of wineries we never knew about, in addition to meeting fellow guests who liked various wineries, restaurants, etc. We whole-heartedly recommend Meadowlark!

My advice: trust the reviews and book this place! We did and were not disappointed. Richard and Kurt are terrific hosts and have created a beautiful and peaceful environment that feels a million miles away from the screaming trucks and tour buses of Napa Valley and yet is really only a short drive or walk to pretty and quaint downtown Calistoga. What is really nice is that there are very few rules and intrusions on your day. When we arrived there was a note taped to the front door welcoming us, telling us where to find our room, and providing a cell phone number if we had any questions or problems. No hassles having to arrive for check-in at any specific time, no paperwork or anything else to deal with before we could settle in, and no lists of rules, regulations and such to bother with. Just come in, make yourself at home, and enjoy. Our suite (#2) was nicely furnished, immaculate, and well stocked with books to suit just about any literary taste. Within 15 minutes of arriving, we were headed to the pool area, where we enjoyed a brief dip followed by the sauna and finally a soak in the hot tub. A great way to relax and forget about the drive and traffic. The grounds and guest areas are private, pretty and well-maintained. Breakfast with Richard and Kurt is also a treat: they are personable, friendly and have a gift for making each guest (and even their pets) feel welcome and comfortable. Great breakfast, too! Two days wasn't nearly long enough for us. We will be back and we will definitely recommend Meadowlark to others!

Richard and Kurt looked after my wife and I on our honeymoon so well it was a shame to leave. Our room #1 was a fabulous suite with four poster bed and whirlpool bath and was immaculately decorated just like the rest of the accommodation. The mineral pool is larger than many 5 star hotels can manage and with a jacuzzi too its a shame to go sightseeing in the gorgeous surrounding areas. The very relaxed dress code around the pool allows for line free tanning too........ and then theres the fresh home cooked breakfast.

This was our 4th stay at Meadowlark but the 1st in a couple of years. Kurt and Richard had put in a number of impovements since our last stay and the rooms, grounds, gardens, pool & spa and amenities were terrific. The breakfasts were outstanding, as great as we remember. They are gracious hosts and they make you feel a part of the family once you arrive. In addition to touring their wonderful property, we enjoyed feeding carrots to the horses, seeing other wildlife, meeting the other guests and spending a few hours of R & R around the pool. It was one of the most relaxing experiences we have had in a long while. Its location is particularly nice as its not in the hustle and bustle of "commercial" Napa. Terrific views and we hope to be back again soon. J & W, New Hampshire

There has to be a better word than wonderful to describe our stay at the Meadowlark Country House. But wonderful is a pretty decent adjective so I'll use it.

With so many excellent ratings on Trip Advisor we felt fairly comfortable when we booked our stay, but there is always a lingering doubt. No need to worry, this place is where you should stay in Calistoga. Kurt and Richard are great hosts and offer great advice about attractions and restaurants in the area. They were always right!

Our room was clean and comfortable and that would have been enough to make our stay OK and well worth the money. The grounds, sauna, hottub, pool, gardens and breakfast made this trip great!! All of the guests were friendly and fun which also added to the experience.

If you are going to have a Napa Valley experience, let the Meadowlark be your dessert. You won't regret it.

What a wonderful experience. Meadowlark offers much more than your typical stay. The accommodations are homey and contemporary. The grounds are organic and natural--perfect for you and your dog. The hosts are charming and warm. This is now our official home away from home in Napa Valley.

I just love staying here when I am in the area, would NEVER think about staying anywhere else. My wife & I just love Kurt & Richard, they are the best innkeepers anywhere. This was our third stay here and will not be our last. Richard's breakfast is to die for! Kurt is an amazing host. They know every winery by heart and can tell you everything you need to know to have the best Napa experience. We stayed this time in the Mountain View room. We love the private balcony (also good for nude sunbathing) and view of the mountains. The pool of course is our favorite and it is so nice for us to be able to enjoy sunbathing nude in such a private setting. Any female visitor will tell you it's so much better than a nude beach with gawkers, perverts and wierdos. There were several other couples there and we all had a great time. What a treat to be in such a civilized atmosphere like this! The hot tub too is most enjoyable. Rember, this is an adults only inn so leave the kids at home. If you are looking for a great romatic getaway with someone special, this is the place for you! Let your inhabitions go wild and enjoy! Thank you again Kurt & Richard, you two are the best there is - we love you!
