“Great people, atmosphere and wine!”
Reviewed 16 July 2014

My wife and I stopped here on a bike ride to vineyards in the Calistoga area and, of the three that we visited, Tamber Bey was our favorite! From the moment we walked in the door, we felt very welcome. The main hosts were busy with a tour group, but he quickly poured us a glass of wine and said he would be with us shortly. This was very friendly considering we did not make an appointment like we were supposed to. While waiting, we took a stroll around the property and looked at horses and enjoyed the fresh air. After about 15 minutes we were greeted by another hostess who apologized profusely for making us wait, even though we were not expecting to be helped anyway. This gal led us through our wine tasting and it was a blast! She was so much fun to talk to and it ended up feeling like we were just a couple of friends sitting on a patio with some wine. She did a great job of explaining the different wines and also gave us a nice history of the property itself.

If you are in the Calistoga area, we would highly recommend visiting Tamber Bey!

“Perhaps one of my new favorite stops in Calistoga!”
Reviewed 24 June 2014

We were a party of 4, and leaving a full day of Bocce from Chateau Montelena. We decided that it would be fun to stop somewhere we hadn't been to, or heard of.

Lucky us, we hooked a right into the Tamber Bay driveway, and were transported into stables and vino! Yup, this is a full on ranch with cowboy hospitality. Doug greeted us, was a sweetheart about us not having reservations & welcomed us warmly.

We sat outside, with the ponies and made our way through the less expensive tasting menu ($35.00 pp). The pours were generous, the wine was great, and Doug was perfection. Not only did he weave us through the vineyard & stable history.... but he is a very cool musician. I won't spoil his stories - only tell you to drop in & chat him up. I think it was the most enjoyable drop-in we've ever had.

I love Calistoga, as most of the tourists don't find their way up this far. If you're visiting, it's worth the extra 30 minutes to get a glimpse of the old Napa hospitality!

“Mixed Reviews”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

The wines were all pretty enjoyable. The price of tastings has escalated to a ridiculous point In this region in my opinion. But generally as long as you purchase they waive the fee. Not here. Unless you joined the wine club or spent $75 I think or both.
That being said our pourer was really nice and everyone there was really friendly. In addition to the tasting room you can enjoy the patio for tastings. You are surrounded by horse stalls and a practice ring. This is NOT where they grow their grapes but where they train and board horses. We enjoyed wandering the property and visiting the horses

“The best winery around!”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

My friends and I decided to take a quick 2 day jaunt to Calistoga for my birthday! Our plan was rent bikes and bike to a few chosen wineries. When we were picking up the bikes the owner told us Tamber Bey was worth a visit. From the minute we called for the reservation this was an unbelievable experience. We called 20 min ahead of time and Ken was able to get us right in. The property was amazing. There are horses lining both sides of the driveway and you feel as though you are entering some movie set. The winery is in a converted horse stable and has outdoor seating where you are able to do the tasting! Ken was not only knowledgable on the wine but also told us the history of the property. The best part is ALL their wine (whites and reds)was not just good but spectacular! This was one of my best winery experiences to date. A must stop if you are going to Calistoga.

“Make the appointment for wine tasting”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

Full disclosure, we are members of the wine club and have loved Tamber Bey wines for years, but this was our first time at the ranch in Calistoga. What a fabulous place! Tasting is by appointment, and it definitely worth making the phone call. The tasting room is at a working horse ranch. It is very picturesque walking with a glass of wine in your hand and petting the nose of a horse. These are high end wines so expect to stay and enjoy the experience. If you are lucky they will be working the horses in the arena so you can just sit back and watch.
