“Can't say enough Wonderful Things about CasaLana!!!”
Reviewed 21 December 2006

CasaLana is a piece of paradise! The breakfasts were SCRUMPTIOUS. Although described on the web site as 'expanded contintental' it was SO much more - house-baked pastries (the best scones ever), wonderful quiche, delicious fruit parfait - YUMMY! The gardens and setting are beautiful. All of Lana's recommendations were wonderful choices. CasaLana was a great B&B experience and we plan to come back soon.

Convenient location within walking distance to downtown Calistoga. Enjoyed the beauty of the room and privacy of our own entrance. Severely disappointed in the breakfasts for a place that is also a gourmet cooking school, we would have hoped for more than yogurt and granola. Too much hype for a place that should just be labeled as a bed, not a breakfast.

casalana, Owner at Casa Lana Bed & Breakfast, responded to this review, 1 August 2010
I recently had a customer ask me about this review and what I serve for breakfast. So although this review is very old I felt I should respond.

I am sorry this guest was disappointed in the breakfast As is evident from comments in other reviews, the breakfast is normally described as gourmet and quite delicious. Even when I did serve an 'expanded continental' breakfast in the early years, I have always served fresh baked scones or other pastries along with fruits, juice, etc. What the guest may be referring to was a yogurt parfait with balsamic berries and granola; which would have been accompanied with scones or muffins. An example of current breakfasts served would be potato frittata with salsa verde or romesco, proscuitto wrapped melon and herbed biscuits. Accompanied with juice, coffee and tea.

I hope this answers any questions you may have about the food. Please feel free to call me to discuss it also. Thanks, Lana

We stayed here right after we got engaged at Point Reyes.... coming here for a few days before going home to celebrate with our families was such a treat! We were greeted by a friend of Lana's when we arrived with a helpful tour and rundown of breakfast. Our room was beautiful - with impeccable touches and the most comfortable bed (we even looked at the brand with hopes of buying one for a new home!).

The area is serene and relaxing, with a beautiful garden, a hot tub, and a gorgeous breakfast patio. Lana's friend made us breakfast the first morning, it was divine. Her attention to detail was so sweet, she even gave us an engagement card!

We didn't take any cooking classes, but the kitchen was huge and the information looked great - we certainly suggest doing that sometime!

Overall, the experience was perfect: Casa Lana could not have been more put together. It was clean, homey, close to great restaurants (but secluded enough that it was quiet and quaint), and the breakfasts (which are included in your stay) were homemade and divine!!! Lana was wonderful with suggestions and recomendations for wineries and restaurants, as we had never been to the area. She knew spas, great places to visit and secrets of the valley that she was happy to share. Would go back time and time again!

We had such a great stay at Casa Lana. It is clean, comfortable, and private. We loved having such a spacious bathroom and a separate entrance. Plus, the location of Casa Lana is great because even though it is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, it is located within walking distance to a cute town center with shops and restaurants. The hosts were so pleasant to sit and talk (and laugh!) with over breakfast, and suggested many great wineries to visit. We are so grateful to them for making our first trip to wine country an experience we will never forget.

Casa Lana was a great experience. We love wine country and had not been back to the area in 4 years. Lana wasn't there when we arrived, but the room was setup and keys were in there just as she promised.

Casa Lana is located in a residential neighborhood, about 1/4-1/2 mile from the main street in Calistoga. Great neighborhood and Lana's property is beautiful. Keep in mind, this isn't a corporate-managed property, just Lana's gorgeous home where she has 2 (?) rooms available. Ours had it's own entrance off to the side which was nice, led right to our car. Bathroom had plenty of space and room was nice, simple but did the job since we spent most of our time at wineries.

Only regret is that we were there when Lana's cooking classes weren't happening - that would have been something we would have done. Lana was very nice, provided coupons/free tasting tickets and made suggestions during breakfast. Best damn scones I've ever had too!

  • Liked — Location and Lana's hospitality
  • Disliked — Price (everything is $$$ in Wine country)

My wife and I stayed at Casa Lana for three (3) nights. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Lana and really made to feel welcome.

The inn was very quiet and peaceful. Our room was spotless and the bed was extremely comfortable.

When we opened our door in the morning, the first noise we heard was the river. The breakfasts were excellent. It was very relaxing to start a day of wine-tasting with a gourmet breakfast outside overlooking the river.

THANK YOU LANA FOR MAKING OUR FIRST TRIP TO NAPA SO MEMORABLE!
