Owner description: Castello di Amorosa is one of Napa Valley's most unique wineries. Castello di Amorosa makes a variety of award-winning wines from its location on the hillside above Calistoga. Try "Il Barone," the wine that Robert Parker rated 94 points. After searching for wine tastings in the area, Castello Di Amarosa was the closest. The actual castle looked amazing. Entry into the castle with 5 wine tastings was $18. The 2010 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was simply outstanding. The wines they create on their vineyard are all superb!

I strongly believe that this is most overrated winery in NAPA.
but, we love the owner's other winery V.Sattui down the strip.
There is a castle in Napa... whooopie! Why are they charging
$19 per adult and $10 per kid to walk couple hallways, see single banquet hall and
look at the sky in the atrium...
We visited the Castle in 2010 as a couple, and they make very traditional
Italian dinner wines... we liked NONE, but we experienced the whole castle.

Therefore is was a easy decision to make, do not waste your money to get a "ticket
to walk the castle", not much to see.
We actually had fun watching the animals on the exterior grounds.

This was not a highlight of our FAMILY trip. Sterling Winery was more fun.

The castle was one of the only wine tour my girlfriend and I took when we visited Napa. The castle was very beautiful and the wine was great. No food is served on property so make sure to eat before hand. Also you can call ahead to make an appointment for a tour so you don't have to wait. Cool fact, 3/4 of the castle of underground and can only be seen via walking tour.

The Castle is fun, innovative and probably one of the best marketing ideas in the valley. You spend the better part of day and a chunk of your wallet all in one place. Not that it is bad, it just has something for just about everyone. Tours and tastings start at $35, but the wines are fairly priced. The joy of wine tasting if you have the time is to taste just a few of your favorite varietals at a number of wineries. There are distinct differences up and down the valley.
