We've had such bad experiences lately with b&b's and I was sure this would be another for my list. Boy was I wrong. On a secluded strip of property lies a group of small, pristinely kept cottages (I'm told it is a converted trailer park.) We stayed in the Vintner's Cottage and upon arrival, walked in to a well air conditioned very large room with classical music playing on the built in stereo. The bed was large and comfortable, and the room was incredibly clean. A gas fireplace lay directly across from the bed, and a small sink and fridge rounded out the room. Through a doorway to a very large bathroom--double sinks on one side, spa tub and stall shower on the other. Double sinks!!! you never see them in hotels, much less in a b&b!

They've thougth of everything..water and snapple in the fridge, bath crystals for the spa, a small lovered window so you can hear the music playing. Just beautiful.

Plus, every night from 5-7, free wine and cheese, with three reds and three whites from the area. Breakfast was simple continental, plus each cottage has a breakfast tray so you can eat in or outside the main building, or if you like bring it back...no pressure.

The staff was quite knowledgable, and the local merchants are great (see Calistoga bike shop). I saw an earlier review calling CGI pricey...in all honesty, its prices were in the typical range we pay at a b&b (we stay at one or two a year) and the CGI goes right to the top of our list. The only shame is, we live across the country, or it would become a regular spot in our lives.

Calistoga is adorable! The Cottage Grove Inn was "Love at first sight"!!

Upon arrival, the good-natured staff were very informative and welcoming. The girls at the desk helped us with planning all of our Napa Valley sight seeing throughout our entire stay.

Our cottage, the Vintners Cottage, was so perfect for the Napa Valley. All of the decor pertained to the wine country. The Cottage Grove is the definition of perfection. All of the beddingis down, hard wood floors throughout, skylights, wood-burning fireplace....but wait, I'm not done!....the jacuzzi tub with candles and bathsalts! When you are done bathing, you slip into the most comfy robe that they provide you with. Laying by the fire with the person that you love the most, after a warm bath, watching a DVD together or reading the books that previous guests write in about their trip, was the perfect aviance. Cottage Grove Inn has a breakfast that is wonderful, and a wine and cheese reception that is candle lit and amazing. The other guests and the staff were SOOOOO wonderful- this is the ONLY place I will return to when visiting Calistoga. Absolute perfection- They didn't leave out a thing!!!

Where do I start...first off, my husband and I took this trip to Calistoga in March during St. Paddy's Day for our first leg of our honeymoon trip (we'll be taking several honeymoon trips this year) and it started off with a bang. Driving up and seeing the cottages, our first impression was very cute and private. The staff was lots of help and were very nice and accomodating. We were greeted with a congratulations note and complimentary champagne. The room is very nice, cozy and most important to me CLEAN! Just perfect for 2, double sinks, cozy couches and bed, the jacuzzi is huge (so nice and relaxing, make sure you ask the office for some extra shampoo, for a nice bubble bath), dvd player, all the extra amenities were just great. We didn't want to leave and get back to the "real" world, so we will definitely be back and can't wait to sulk in the beautiful cottages soon.

Every time my wife and I talk about the Cottage Grove Inn, we always say the same thing..."We've gotta go back!"
We arrived late Sunday night, found our "hidden" key (the office closes rather early on Sunday, so call ahead!), and opened the door to find absolute perfection.
Crisp white sheets on a beautiful king bed, a wonderful sitting area with a comfortable chaise lounge and sofa, a fantastic fireplace, a small wet bar/refrigerator/coffee maker/microwave, and a good-sized closet all awaited us in the main room of the cottage.
Even MORE fantastic, however, was the bathroom. A limestone shower with a wonderful high-pressure head, a spa jacuzzi tub that we could do laps in, and a seperate toilet and twin vanity area made for an absolutly perfect experience.
The staff were all wonderful, the other guests friendly and plesant, and parking was a breeze. We can't wait to go back!

We stayed at the Nautical Cottage as the last leg of our honeymoon, October 26 - 29, 2004. The place is gorgeous. Very quiet, very romantic. I can't say enough. It was simply perfect. The staff was very nice and the accomodations were beyond anything we could have hoped for. I have not a single negative thing to say. It was all exactly as i could have dreamed of!

If you are in Calistoga and enjoy hiking, definitely do a day hike up the Oat Hill Trail (just north of the town). It is a very strenous 10 mile hike (5 miles straight up and then back down), but you will be rewarded with amazing views. There was a guide book to the hike at the Inn and they let us take it with us on the hike. Afterwards, go have a mud bath and massage across the street at the Indian Springs resort. Also, we really enjoyed the Brannan's Restaurant and the Freemark Abbey vineyard. Also Mumm Napa -- so much so that we joined the club.

You will not regret your stay at the Cottage Grove Inn. We plan on coming back for our third or fifth anniversary (the sooner the better!).

Just got back from Napa Valley and Cottage Grove Inn and can't say enough nice things about the experience. When you walk into your luxury cottage all you can do is smile. It is beautifully decorated, comfortable and full of amenities. One of the most romantic places I've ever stayed. The staff is wonderful. A lovely breakfast is offered everyday...fresh fruit, scones, breads, sweet rolls, juices, coffee and tea. Every afternoon unlimited wine selections, cheese and fruit. The room where these are served is also lovely and comfortable with a wonderul fire. You don't want to leave the Inn but do because the town of Calistoga is great. A-One restaurants and shops!

If you're taking a trip to Napa Valley and are looking for ideal romantic getaway accommodations, I can't recommend the Cottage Grove Inn highly enough. My wife and I stayed in the Botanical cottage Oct. 18-22 as part of an anniversary trip, and it was simply perfect from the moment we arrived until the moment we checked out.

My wife found a new favorite word on this trip--"CHARMING". It seems to fit the place to a T. The cottages are lovely, with more than enough space and all the amenities you could ever want. The staff was wonderful, starting with our call for reservations weeks ahead of the trip. When we arrived, they had a bottle of champagne and anniversary wishes waiting for us in the cottage. The bathroom is luxurious. The two person jacuzzi is a great way to end the day. And if someone can tell me where to buy the showerhead, I'll have one ordered within the hour.

Calistoga itself was also charming. We ate at several restaurants there as well as the "favorites" in Napa and elsewhere--and found that we were just as happy with the restaurants in Calistoga as we were at some of the higher priced places elsewhere. It was wonderful to be able to walk into town and back to the cottages--particularly on such lovely, cool fall nights. And getting to the many wonderful wineries is a breeze.

We travelled extensively prior to having kids, and this place ranks as our most romantic spot to date. My only regret is that it will likely be a long while before we can return. I highly recommend the Cottage Grove Inn.
