Wow! We've stayed at the Chateau twice (once in November, and once in April) and it's like staying at a five star hotel without the snooty valet and extra fees. This is not your lace doily and dusty antique filled inn with threadbare carpet and a lumpy mattress!

Everything about the facility is first class, from LCD television (with more channels than we have at home), fantastic comfortable bedding, new linens, exquisite bath soaps and other amenities to the stylish decor and furnishings. The grounds are beautifully maintained, the Jacuzzi and pool are clean and relaxing, even the patio furniture is beautiful (and all matches!). The views are fantastic. The carriage house is private and quiet, with a small deck overlooking the vineyards and a private outdoor table for breakfast in the sun. The cleaning staff would even keep my mother happy!

The innkeepers, Phillip and Peter, provide a warm welcome and have clearly thought of everything to make guests comfortable. If you need anything, they're available without hovering. The breakfasts are quite a departure from typical B&B fare....if you see a scone here it will be worth eating and likely in the company of an "over the top" gourmet breakfast. You won't need lunch reservations, but plan an early dinner instead!

Nigel, our Newfoundland Dog, is genuinely welcomed and enjoys his special plate of dog cookies at breakfast. There is no silly weight limit to the dog friendly policy here. If you stay with your pet, please pick up after him so this great inn remains hospitable to our canine friends. And ask to see the host's dog, Rocco, a charming Golden Retriever!

This is our new favorite in the Napa Valley!

Even though you do your research, you never know until you get to a place if it lives up to your expectations. I'm picky and not a big fan of B&B's (too beholden to the owner's quirks) but I have to say that Chateau de Vie exceeded my expectations. It's a beautiful and tasteful home, grounds, and surrounding vineyards. Plus, there's a superb attention to detail - it's obvious Peter and Philip know what they're doing and have refined things over the years - to their guest's benefit. We didn't get to meet Philip (did enjoy his great breakfasts though) but Peter was great - very service oriented (asked ahead of time for special requests -soy milk for my wife) and again, he paid attention to the details. Wonderful place.

This was our first time to CDV. The proprietors Peter and Phillip are very welcoming and have great energies. Our room, the suite on the 3rd floor is spacious, warm and very clean. The house is warm and inviting. So warm that we sat by the fire today reading instead of wine tasting. It was gray and overcast and that kind of day. The property is situated on a 2.5 acre vineyard, which makes a very nice wine by the way, and the views are amazing. The breakfasts that Phillip prepares are wonderful. So far we've loved his very upscale version of Green Eggs n Ham and the perfect French Toast. We have already booked this room when we're back for a wedding we're attending in Sonoma this September!

We echo the rave reviews already on this site!
We stayed for four days, and held our tiny wedding ceremony in the lovely gardens. We stayed in the carriage house, which was comfortably appointed and has a beautiful view of the hills.
Peter and Philip are gracious and amazing hosts. The breakfasts served each day are delicious, and beautifully presented.
The location is close enough to Calistoga for an easy drive to dinner, with hiking trails, balloon rides and wine tasting nearby.
Highly recommended for a serene experience in the Napa Valley.

There is really little one can add to the reviews already posted except to echo others in praising this wonderful B & B and its attentive and gracious owners. This was our second stay at CDV. We were very much looking forward to the return and were not disappointed.

It is difficult to say enough about the superlative breakfasts prepared by Phillip. One of the most memorable on this trip was his take on "green eggs and ham" which included two poached eggs on a slice of toasted baguette with homemade pesto and sautéed prosciutto. The warm muffins or scones Phillip prepares and serves each morning were mentioned at several of the wineries we visited. I guess that qualifies for the descriptor "legendary"!

One of the outstanding qualities of CDV is the comfort of sitting by the fire in the late afternoon enjoying the wine and the cheese and fruit tray the owners so thoughtfully provide. All in all, we are convinced there is absolutely no better place to relax and unwind in the Napa Valley and no better hosts than Peter and Phillip.

We stayed here for one night while in the Calistoga area. The Inn is just outside the town so you can not walk to town but the privacy of the Inn is well worth the short drive to town. The property is beautiful, our room looked out over the vineyards, and the room was very clean and well sized. Peter was incredibley nice and welcoming. Breakfast was delicious. I would highly recommend this Inn to anyone.

As I reflect on the close of 2008, I knew that recognizing the most relaxing, renewing and pleasurable vacation of the year was a must. Chateau de Vie, and hosts Peter and Phillip , turned a short getaway into an unexpected second honeymoon for my spouse and I.

From the moment we turned off the highway and into the tree lined lane leading to the front gate, I knew we were in for something different from the usual B& B that fronts the road.

The Inn itself, and the incredible gardens framed with boxwood and roses brought back memories of my days as an exchange student in the French countryside. The manor house feels as if it just landed amidst the acres of stunning vines!

Upon check in, Peter showed us to our room, which was perfect, not cliched 'country', nor contrived 'hip'...just a lovely, spacious, spotless room with classic, tasteful decor and a restful paint palette. Our particular room had a fantastic view of the mountains as well.

Peter and Phillip were both personable with out being overly chatty as we have experienced with innkeepers in the past. They have definitely figured out the right mix of custmer service and respect for guests' privacy. When informaiton was needed regarding restaurants and wineries, they were extremely knowledgeable and guided us to those places that suited our desires perfectly.

Even before the trip, they e-mailed and inquired as to any special requests we might have. Breakfasts were gourmet, yet appropriate to our country location, rich in local ingredients and never too heavy. The extra touches abounded including fluffy robes and high end room amenities.

I realize I am going on a bit, but since I rely heavily on Trip Advisor for most of my business and personal travel, I felt the need to state just the facts about my trip and what it was like to be treated so warmly and experience surroundings so breathtaking. I know the inevitable wrinkle can occur when one travels, and though this trip was flawless, I felt that if something were to go awry, Peter and Philip would immediately want to make it right..., the hallmark of the best of the best to be sure.
