Just steps from a boardwalk with a path to the beach, this motel, like the others on the same street, has an envious location. The room and bath were adequate and very clean. The continental breakfast was more than that, since it includes eggs and make-your own-waffles. The personnel were all extremely nice and very helpful.

The garden view in the "garden view room" consisted of the parking lot in front and a patch of dirt with a fence in the back. The place was remarkably quiet, given that cars park in front of the room and the highway is less than 50 yards away. The shower was impossible, changing from freezing water to scaulding hot at random intervals, to the extent that you had to turn away the shower head or else be burned. There is no air conditioning; the heater consists of a gas fireplace and a space heater you take out from the closet.

If there was a rating of 3.5 this place would get that. But do not discount staying here if you want to be in this area; just be aware of the negatives.

I loved this place. From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble. The room was lovely and spacious. You can see a lot of time is spent looking after this place just by looking at the lovely gardens. The breakfast was the usual continental style which was above average. But best of all it was the location we didn't want to be in a town and this is ideal for this the hotel is just opposite the beach. In walking distance there is a fish restuarant (which only takes cash and a little pricey) and the other end of the road is a bar/resturant with lovely views especially if you want to watch the sunset (our food was very salty but that might be just a one off). Its great for a stop over ideal for hwy 1.

Having driven for a couple of hours down Highway 1 we were looking forward to a nice relaxing drink in our 'English style inn' however this was not to be the case. Apart from the fact that the hotel (which is a term that should be used loosely when describing the Fogcatcher) lacked a bar and a restaurant, the bathroom in the room was dirty and the room itself backed onto the highway. The 'pool' looked unclean and was full of sand. There is nothing good to be said about the Fogcatcher, in fact I wouldn't even recommend it to my worst enemy.

My boyfriend and I just LOVED the fog catcher inn. Nothing to complain about :
1) Staff is incredibly helpful and better yet, friendly.
2) Great free breakfast (includes eggs, sausage, waffles, cereal, etc.) in a cute room by a garden.
3) The location can't be beat
4) We left our pillows in the room and they were shipped to our home with no hassel, arriving in 2 days.

I'm a bit of a perfectionist - but my stay at the FogCatcher Inn really impressed me. If you want comfort and excellent service stop here. I was able to get a last-minute reservation for my family travelling from San Diego to San Francisco before we left home. We wanted to visit Hearst Castle following our stay in Cambria and this was only a short drive away.

The owners obviously take pride in their inn and we felt that they were genuinely interested in making our stay enjoyable to the smallest detail. The service was cheerful and attentive without being patronizing, rooms are extremely clean and comfortable and the decor is lovely (style matters). After a few days on the road in 5 star hotels we couldn't believe our eyes - free bottles of water! Yes, it is the little things that make a difference. Breakfast is included (bonus) and again the breakfast room is clean and there is a variety of food choices. Relax and enjoy this beautiful location on the water - we were glad we found this jem.

After spending two nights at the Fogcatcher Inn, I am thoroughly relaxed and rejuvinated!! The hotel is across the street from beautiful Moonstone Beach and a boardwalk that leads all along the coastline.
Our room was an upstairs King that had a fireplace,a view of the ocean, a microwave and refrigerator, and a nice spacious bathroom. The room was large in size and the bed was really comfy. I loved falling asleep every night listening to the ocean. The fireplace also worked great as a heater.
The staff behind the desk was really friendly. They helped us make reservations for dinner both nights and I loved the fresh baked cookies when we checked in.
Breakfast was great. There were eggs and sausages, waffles, pastries, cereal, fruit and many other options. It was nice to not have to forge for breakfast every morning. During breakfast, I was surprised to see how many people were staying at the hotel, because we hardly ever heard or saw anyone else. It was perfect!
Next time we come to Cambira, we will definitely stay at the Fogcather again!!

We spent 2 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There is ample room for a family of four with 2 queens beds in the room. The rooms themselves are well decorated and very clean.
The continental breakfast is really tasty and the waffle machine a complete bonus. The location of the Inn is perfect with the beach a short walk across the quiet street. The staff were friendly and helpful with our enquiries regarding the town and restaurants etc.
We plan to return again next year!
