My wife and I have stayed in Cambria more times then I can remember and stayed at most of the Hotels on Moonstone Drive.....and we always seem to return to the Sea Otter. It was the 1st place we ever stayed when visiting and we are due to return very soon and I am sure it will be a great stay this time we booked a Ocean front room. all the other rooms are clean and wonderful so this should be the same.

We have stayed here for years and love the locale, but the DVD player did not work properly and in the morning the desk clerk scolded us for drinking too much coffee when she had to go make more...at 8:50 a.m. Isn't that her job?? Will come again but hope that the manager reads this post and takes care of our issues.

It's great to hear that you are long-time guests. We're sorry there was a glitch with the DVD player. Our excellent maintenance staff is very responsive to issues reported by our guests. Please accept my apologies for the odd attitude about making coffee. I have addressed this issue and appreciate the heads up. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

We stayed at the Sea Otter Inn, for one night, earlier this week. The rooms were spacious and very clean, featuring fireplaces, refrigerators, DVD players and cable TV. One big advantage to the Sea Otter Inn is it's proximity to the ocean, with the beach board-walk just a short stroll away. Cambria is also a lovely, quaint little town with a very good general store that serves an excellent selection of fresh, made-to-order sandwiches. The hotel, and the town, is definitely worth a visit if you ever find yourself in San Luis Obispo.

We stopped there for the night on the way from San Francisco to LA, right on the beach, clean spacious room and a decent continental breakfast. The staff are friendly. Overall the inn dows exactly what it says on the tin!

We took a side trip to Cambria on our way down to see the Jay Leno show in Glendale. The town has changed a little since we were here many years ago but the strip of hotels on Moonstone Drive are still basically the same. This time we stayed at the Sea Otter which is one of several properties here in Cambria that is owned by the same company. The room is OK for $200 -- we paid a little extra willing to be in one of their three rooms that fronts the ocean. The remainder of the rooms have little courtyards but really you want to sit by the fireplace on these chilly nights by the ocean so the courtyards have little use I expect -- You have a short walk to the ocean and a little board walk. The breakfast is OK (thanks for the hardboiled eggs!!) we were trying to be good and stay somewhat on a diet and had to avoid all the pastries-- but they looked good :) Really it is understandable that these MOTELS charge upwards of $350 a night during high season but really Cambria has a lousy ocean -- waves just trickle in nothing other the the water to look at. For $350 a night I would rather stay in the Carmel area. The room is very clean and nicely done up with crown molding- see pictures. I would stay here again if I were ever in Cambria but I would not pay extra for the ocean view.

Room Tip: Entire complex is single level - There are only three rooms that face the ocean. The ocean here is not spectacular with crashing waves etc - so if you want to save a few bucks just get the ones with the garden/courtyard.
