“Fabulous Hospitality, A Great Stay!”
Reviewed 27 June 2013 via mobile

This inn is in a quaint, beautiful town full of friendly people. There are many gourmet restaurants and interesting little stores within walking distance too.
The owners of the inn are super friendly. There is a wine reception in the front room every night where you can sit and chat with other travelers and the owners while sipping wine.
Breakfast varies every morning. Fresh fruit, granola, yogurt, waffles, eggs cooked to order, etc.
I planned to stay 2 nights but we decided to stay 3. When I asked if they had a guest laundry, they told me they would wash my load. I got it back 2 hours later all folded up!
They maintain a garden full of flowers...and the sky is full of stars at night.
A truly beautiful area with plenty to do. I would definitely recommend this inn. It is very kid-friendly too.
Call the inn directly rather than book online.

The staff were really friendly, helpful, and made us feel right at home. We will definitely stay here again if we come to Cambria again. Also, the location is just right; in a quiet street, but just a 30 second walk to the nearest (great) restaurant.

This place made me feel sooo relaxed! Burton Inn had the nicest people, the biggest suite and the most reliable wifi during our (so far) 10 days in the US. And a fabulous breakfast! We had poached eggs with toast and rosemary, fresh strawberries and grapes with honey, scones, cookies, coffee and juice... Thank you!

We stayed here on a stopover between LA and San Francisco, it was a last minute online booking. Because we booked online, breakfast was not included. There was an early evening wine hour - bottle of red and bottle of white complimentary, with some cracker mix, and host is very friendly, social, available.

Location is good, walking distance to retail and restaurants. If you are looking to hear waves from your room, you will want to book a location on the beach - something we did on the last trip and prefer to being in town. Although close, it's not quite walking distance to the beach.

Room was spacious, separate living area from dining area. Furnishings were average, towels in the bathroom a little old, shampoo & conditioner in dispenser on shower wall, and no bar soap. Bed linens seemed newer and very comfortable.

We were on a bottom unit and there is a little walking noise that can be heard from 2nd floor occupants. Also the water pipes seem to be noisy, were quite loud from the upper unit, would be hard to continue sleeping through the noise.

Negative was internet access. Wifi in all rooms is advertised, and was available with no problem before dinner and the next morniong, but when we returned after dinner and I wanted to get online for some late night browsing, I kept getting "DNS server error", check router, etc. Strangely enough my iPad had no problem browing the Burton Inn webpage, but any other website, i.e. CNN, etc was unavailable. I'm not a techie so no clue what the problem what but it was an annoyance to not have access.

Overall nice, but a few negatives and being beach people we would stay in the Moonstone Beach area next time although that area is not as convenient to restaurants.

The first thing I noticed about the Burton Inn was its ample parking and beautiful facade that was very in-keeping with the style of the town. This was immediately followed by a very warm welcome from the hotel manager, Terry, who offered us complimentary breakfast and evening wine tasting even though it was not included in our booking. Terry directed us to our room and gave us some additional information that might be useful to our stay in the town.

The room itself was an extremely spacious suite style that easily accommodated three adults and I could not fault it. The thing all three of us noticed, however, was just how large and comfy the beds were. They certainly made for a good night's sleep.

The following morning, we all had our complimentary breakfast consisting of fruit, cereals, porridge and eggs to order. The intimate dining room encouraged us to chat with Terry and the other guests, who provided us with a few good ideas of where to eat out in the locale amongst other things. I believe we were in breakfast for about an hour before we realised how long we'd been chatting!

That evening, we partook in the wine tasting in the library, which although advertised as 5-7, seemed to go on for as long as the guests were still in conversation. The wine was excellent and free-flowing and needless to say, we overran our dinner reservation by 15 minutes...

After yet another great night's sleep and breakfast breakfast in the morning, it was our time to leave. After saying our goodbyes to Terry and the other guests, it was actually a shame to go; an emotion you don't often experience with hotels.

All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and have to say that the Burton Inn was excellent, with an excellent hostess. This was backed up when I received an email a few miles down the road that I had left something in the room and might want to return to get it! Thanks Terry, and if we're ever back in Cambria, we know where we'll be staying.

Room Tip: The large suites provided ample space and even a degree of privacy for three adults.

The room was very large with a separate lounge area and a small kitchenette. The location was great next to some fabulous shops selling local artwork. We were given complimentary breakfast even though it wasn't included in the booking. This was of a really good standard with fresh fruit, cereals and porridge and plenty of coffee. We were travelling down Highway 1 and really only arranged to stay in Cambria to break up the journey up between Carmel and LA. We wished that we had more time to stay longer. We would definitely recommend Cambria and the Burton Inn.
