We were referred to the Wild Ginger Restaurant by the hostess of another excellent restaurant in Cambria that was booked. Great surprise. Upon walking in, we wondered whether we were in the right place. Then we looked at the specials posted on the wall, each of which sounded fantastic. We sat down to ponder the menu and had a difficult time deciding among 7 or 8 especially great sounding items. The vegetable soup of the day was a Thai Butternut Coconut that was divine. Hot, spicy, lots of fresh vegetables. We nearly asked for seconds. Main course on the specials was Korean barbecue beef short ribs. So delicious, served with a green papaya salad, perfectly cook vegetables, and noodles that we split, saving room for hazelnut chocolate bread pudding with whipped cream and raspberries and a dish of house-made lychee sorbet. Great, friendly service; priced within the realm. Interesting melange of Pacific Rim and world cuisine. We definitely will return.

Thank Matthew B

They had a delicious fig & pomegranate salad. And the veggies that accompanied all three meals were delicious, but the fish was just fish (hunk of tuna tasted more like canned and the scallops were blah) and rice was just rice. With all of the wonderful flavors, seems like they could dress up the main part of the dinner. THe ambiance was excellent and the seven tables were all taken by the time we left (on a Monday night)--plenty of locals there as well.

I was excited to try the Wild Ginger Cafe, and didn't mind overpaying for my food, as long as it was worth it. Unfortunately it wasn't. The tom kha soup had a very good flavor, but was a little too spicy (which is saying a lot because i love spicy food) and the "large" order came in a tiny to-go container. For $10, I was hoping to get more than 2 cups of soup. But at least it tasted good. The pad thai was extremely disappointing. It had hardly any flavor, and was also a small portion for the $17 I was charged. I understand this is a small tourist town, but what about the locals? It's bad enough there aren't any sushi bars in town. I guess now I'll have to drive to SLO for thai too.

Three of us ate at this very small restaurant on the main street in Cambria, and we split two dishes among the three of us. This was plenty of food, and both dishes, stir-fried, one beef, one pork (and that pork one a special for the night) were tasty with good meat flavor and fresh vegetables they get every Thursday from the Farmer's Market. They are closed Thursday, FYI. If you like Thai food, and seafood, they also have quite a few things that will appeal.

We're writing this review while at the restaurant. We had dinner here 2 nights ago and my daughter wouldn't let us leave Cambria without revisiting here. In fact, she skipped breakfast at the hotel so we could come here early. She is having the Tom Kha Gai soup for the second time and says it is the best she's ever had (and she's been a dedicated Thai food earer for over ten years!) I also had the Green Papaya Shrimp Salad which was also an amazing blend of flavors and textures. This is a little gem of a restaurant and the owner, Deborah from Singapore, is very engaging & entertaining too and we have had a good chat with her both times. We can't wait to get back here when we're next in Cambria and my daughter is even taking a large Tom Kha to go!
