“The Best Place for Romance”
Reviewed 28 June 2005

The J Patrick House is a wonderful place to stay for any occasion. We stayed for our 10th and 11th wedding anniversaries and both times it was great. The breakfast was always the best and the atmosphere always delightful. Able to talk with other guests at the wine and cracker get together after an eventful day. Cookies and milk for a snack before going to bed. Warm and Enviting rooms, all with their unique touches to make each stay a unique one. The owners of the Bed and Breakfast meet everyone and are wonderful to converse with. Can't say enough wonderful things about this place. Definately a place to get lost in.

We decided to drive the Central California Coast and after Much research decided The J. Patrick House in Cambria was a Must Stop, we were Not disappointed.
We left the Santa Ynez Valley and headed North towards Cambria. Stopping on the way at one of the many wineries in the Region and enjoying the beautiful coastline.
We found Cambria itself to be the most charming of places, full of quaint boutiques and coffee shops.
Although we decided to pass on Hearst Castle, it is also close by. Honestly we were away to relax and did not want to deal with the crowds.
The J Patrick House sits on a hillside and its nestled amongst the pines.
I thought my Peter was teasing when he said we were actually staying in the actual J. Patrick House but he assured me there was infact 1 room in the actual house-he was right. We had a lovely room and bathroom complete with the resident Teddy Bear. I must admit I had to purchase a teddy to come home with us-he is named Peter!
Shortly after arriving we were welcomed to a wine and hors d'oeuvres hour and had a chance to meet the other guests. We just had to walk downstairs:-) Below our room is the small reception, sitting room and breakfast room. All very quaint and comfortable.
We were rather surprised to find that even during mid week, J. Patrick was full-Speaks Volumes!
We went into the small town for a lovely meal at The Sow's Ear, also a lovely experience, reservations recommended.
You sleep like a log because it is so quiet here and awake to enjoy a
Fabulous breakfast. Everything was beautifully prepared and presented, with more than enough to eat. The granola is fantastic and so was the yoghurt, in addition to the home made scones, eggs etc.
The setting, the ambiance and the hospitality are second to none.
If you want your Own Taste Of Heaven, we would highly recommend The J.Patrick House. If you can reserve the room we had, it is very, very private and I feel sure all the other rooms are lovely also. All have a Resident Teddy.
Attached are a photo of the Actual J.Patrick house, are room being at the top. The gardens are charming also, I thought the little statue was quaint. The mailboxes are painted with roosters, flowers. and lovely to.

I had stayed at the J. Patrick House some 12 years ago and enjoyed it immensely at that time. Although, it has changed hands several times since then, the present owners continue to maintain the high quality I remembered from the past. In fact, I enjoyed it even more on this stay. Ann & John are wonderful hosts creating some of the best breakfasts I've had in a long time. The inn is beautifully decorated and each room is unique with its own well appointed bathroom. I particularly enjoyed the wood burning fireplace and fresh, home made cookies, as a snack, in the evening. John was very helpful and pointed us in the right direction for some local sightseeing and dinner recommendations. In addition to the quaintness of Cambria, itself, the area is a treasure trove of wonderful boutique wineries along Rte 46 and into Paso Robles. I highly recommend the J Patrick House.
