I still owe this hotel a review. We had a great stay here and actually extended our planned stay with one night. They were nice enough to give us the same rate that we had booked our first 2 nights for, even though the 3rd night was a weekend and rates had gone up.
Room was big and very clean. We also loved the outdoor seating that they had.
The staff was very friendly and professional. Nice tea, coffee and cookies in the lobby.

We would have stayed here again last month, but unfortunately they were fully booked.

Although we all had driven through Cambria in the past, none of us had ever stayed there and it was wonderful. The Fireside Inn is in a great location across from the boardwalk and down the street from the various restaurants and higher density areas so it was much quieter. The ocean view room with the patio was spacious, well situated and even had a fireplace.......not particularly useful in July but nevertheless a nice addition. The pool and spa area were also nicely situated, providing a great way end end the day. All in all a great experience and a place we'd stay at again. Tips: October to February are off season and less expensive and staying 3 nights also provides a nice discount on the room.

Room Tip: If you can, splurge on the ocean view rooms with the patio. It's wonderful to have a great glass...

We had a room with ocean view and a little patio we could sit on each evening to watch the sun set. We could watch the whales and dolphins go by with the binoculars they leave in your room! It was right down the street from two excellent places to eat! Short distance from Hearst Castle, elephant seal beach, and Paso Robles wineries makes this a perfect locations

Room Tip: Spend a little more for the ocean view room!

Our experience was, overall, very enjoyable and memorable. The beautiful views of the shore, cliffs and rocks--and sometimes, sea mammals--make strolling obligatory ,,,great views !
The room itself offered quiet, comfortable rest--but was nonetheless oddly shaped and high-ceilinged, reducing any feeling of "coziness" it might otherwise have had. The bolster with its
French inscription was a classy touch. The gas log I found difficult to light.

Room Tip: From any room, a stroll of a few minutes takes you to ocean-front vistas that will make your visit...

Nice clean rooms pretty much as advertised, and the fireplace was nice to sit beside and sample the local wine and cheese.

Reception staff were a were a bit rude when they asked for payment on arrival. I said we had paid 5-6 months ago online, but they said that couldn't be right as they never charge online, and they would need to debit my card.
Unfortunately it was the only way I was able to book online, as wouldn't take a booking unless it was paid by credit card in advance, but they didn't believe me.
I said I would get my ipad out in the morning and prove it, which I did, but wasn't a great experience.
The only other thing that was a bit odd was that there was no corkscrew in the room . A bit weird when there are a lot of vineyards and wine tastings in the area. Had to go back to reception again and borrow one, but was told they didn't have any in the rooms, as had run out, and we're waiting on some new ones. I asked to borrow one from reception, and they said they didn't have one available right now, as someone else had borrowed it and not returned the only one they had. I then saw one on the shelf and asked if I could buy the one on the shelf, to be told that that was actaully the one , and someone must have brought it back. I then had to go back to the room, use it , and then take it back again to reception, by time got back to room was ready for the Pinot , by the time got that sorted.
Nice place though and nice area. Had croissants and coffee in bakery in Cambria next morning on way to Hearst castle and was good choice.

Very nice quaint hotel. Big rooms, gas fireplace in room, great hot complimentary breakfast in am. Nice pool and spa. Only issue that was not well publicized was lack of AC in rooms. We stayed in late July. Thankfully, it was cool at night so we simply opened window with little noise outside. It wasn't a big problem for us, but keep in mind if this is a priority.

We are a frequent visitor to the CA Central Coast. Our stay at the Fireside was very disappointing. Although it is located in an excellent ocean side area the rooms have very poor ventilation and were not as welcoming as area competitors. It does give you good access to area attractions and the ocean. It is also dog friendly.
