We had just pulled into Cambria having driven the Big Sur Coast from Monterey. We were in need of sustenance and after wandering the pretty main street - all done up for the annual scarecrow festival - decided to try the Old Stone Station. The menu looked unfussy and there was a nice open porch area where we could sit and eat, watching the world go by.

We both ordered the house club sandwich, one with potato salad and one with lattice potato chips. The sandwiches were delicious and their accompaniments were demolished in very little time, washed down with unlimited soft drinks. The waiter who served us was friendly and the service was brisk.

After a long drive the conveniences beckoned and we took advantage of them before leaving. With a touch of humour one could not escape, the management had set up a full length circus mirror in the mensroom. The distortions were guaranteed to give a quite unusual view of very serious business.

I think we'd have been better off sticking to burgers and fries/onion rings.
2 of us had the Flat Iron Steaks - a bit chewy, veggies were no where near cooked enough, baked potato was ok (nice topping of butter, sour cream, chives). the ribs were meaty, sauce reported to be a bit sweet. Tuna steak was "not so good".

We were looking for a reasonably priced restaurant in Cambria while spending an overnight stopover between San Francisco and LA. Our hotel suggested The Old Stone Station. Although there was no table available when we arrived, the manager looked after the queue with humour and efficiency. We waited just ten minutes and were taken to a cosy table upstairs.
The staff were very friendly, professional and gave us plenty of welcome attention. All the food and drink was sensibly priced and our steaks were superb. This was undoubtedly the best meal we had during our three week stay in the USA.

We had a great lunch here today, my husband enjoyed the beer selection. service was good and food really good and fairly priced (cheapest food we ate in Cambria) .Clam chowder was really good. the ambiance is really fun, restrooms have fun house mirrors, pretty funny to see yourself distorted when you least expected. an unexpected gem. The owner went out of his way to talk to us on our way out to explain all the interesting artifacts from the 50's and 60's. it is really fun.

We stopped here for dinner tonight after reading other reviews. The dining room has comfortable seating and friendly staff. I didn't want a big meal so I ordered steamers. I asked where they were from as I live on Long Island and wanted to know more about them. The waitress was pleasant and got right back to me. They were delicious. My husband had the chicken piccata which was very good. Full menu with many choices of beef. I would recommend this restaurant.
