We just returned from 5 days with our hosts Pablo and Anna and our 7th grade Spanish Class. The Finca (farm) is unlike anywhere I have ever stayed. Our hosts were so gracious with excellent English and the villagers could not have been more welcoming. Each cabin has a modern bathroom and US electricity.

It was truly a trip of a lifetime.

Posting this review a bit late - we stayed at La Anita in February 2012, meant to write a review and it's just now, as we are planning another visit to Costa Rica and relying heavily on Trip Advisor once again, that I am reminded to do this. I can only agree 100% with the positive reviews here. Pablo and Anita are special people - we stayed 4 nights and it was the most authentic, interesting, and relaxing part of our 2 week trip. They arranged our trips for us, including the guided tour of Rincon with guide Javier (see photo) who was so good - very knowledgeable yet funny too. The cabins were excellent, loved the screens letting in nature, the bathroom was spacious and unique, bed was quite comfortable. The food and dining situation was lovely, either Pablo or Anita made a point to be at every meal and would visit with the guests. We met another couple there and Pablo arranged for the four of us to have dinner with the local family in town who does this. It was so fun! Food was delicious and cooked over a beautiful wood burning stove. We asked Pablo if we should bring some wine, and he said sure, the family probably wouldn't mind. Well, her husband was home from his job outside the village for a few days, and they helped us finish off our two bottles, it was like a little party. Their charming daughter tried to get us to play some word games to help us learn a little more Spanish.
We did have a pretty strange horseback riding tour in a nearby village they arranged - we don't ride much, the guide spoke zero English and my Spanish is weak, it started to pour and didn't stop, the trail was steep and muddy, like riding in a stream - fortunately we managed to communicate our need to turn back, and the tour ended with a fabulous lunch in a lovely small restaurant at the stables.

I wish Pablo and Anita much success in their cocoa business, and if you are lucky enough to choose La Anita, please send them our regards.

We were so happy to stay in this lodge as the first Japanese guests. We found this lodge which seems to be our favorite some years ago and now we could be here. It is correct as just our expect. La Anita was excellent in the great nature. We have to go there after long time rough road driving, but it is needed for our stay in the wonderful nature.
Ana and Pablo, the owner, are so kind and friedly and make their best efforts to keep our stay most comfortable and restful. Now their family, with Ana Paula and Tomas (dauter and son) are our best friends in Costa Rica.
Our room was in special place apart from other cabins. Ana said it is honeymoon cabin. This cabin has its own large private garden and many birds came here. We like bird watching but are not keen birders. For us, this cabin was much suitable because it is very quiet and many birds came around the cabin. We only sit on the chairs or rest in hammock in open air veranda, we could watch many birds!
The cabin is not luxuary but very comfortable, and we could feel we are in the nature. It is our favorite. As our purpose to come to Costa Rica was to escape from our daily busy life in Tokyo though it is too long flights, the time to keep in La Anita lodge was the best for us.
The meals are excellent and staff are very helpful and friendly.
For nature lovers like us, La Anita is the best lodge and we strongly recommend.
We surely hope to stay here again and promise to come back.

My son, 23 yrs old, and I visited Costa Rica for the first time. We spent 8 days at Finca La Anita Rainforest Ranch. We couldn't have chosen a better place. Our visit was worth every colones spent! We enjoyed the company, hospitality, education, environment, and enjoyed hearing about the history and agriculture in Costa Rica from the owner, Pablo. This place is outstanding!

Pablo made sure our expectations and vacation needs were met. He suggested some really interesting tours and made arrangements for us. A few examples: A horseback ride up the side of one of the three volcanoes that could be seen from our porch. Edgar, our tour guide, was a joy to be with and was somehow able to communicate extremely well without words(we didn't brush up on our spanish). He even taught us how to make cheese back at his farm including milking a cow. We visited a local family who taught us hands-on how to prepare a traditional meal and then had the pleasure of joining them for dinner. My son asked to go on the canopy zipline tour and I'm glad he did. I overcame my fear of heights and it was a blast! These tours were reasonable, educational, and lots of fun.
The people we met were friendly, generous, and a joy to be with.
We happened to be there the same time Beverly M got married and who just gave the best description of Finca La Anita thus far. The reviews are spot on, but only a visit can tell it all.
We hope to return!
