“Not to be missed!”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

A good little hike, probably best done after a full day acclimating to the altitude in Paro, but our schedule did not allow (we were coming from sea level). The climb, the views, the initial feel of the mountains... add to the amazing sense of the monastery perched up in the clouds.

“Connect with your higher-self”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

We took a longer route than the regular visitors to the Tiger's Nest Monastery, as we trekked from Bumdrag campsite. So the journey till the monastery was mostly downhill. After a long trek, the first glimpse of the temple complex is sure to take your breath away. Its a brilliant view especially if you are a photo enthusiast. Stopping for great shots of the monastery nestled amongst the colorful prayer flags is sure to take away any strain of the journey. Once inside the complex, one has the freedom to meditate at any of the shrines. The calm and quiet of the outside unfailingly penetrates inside oneself. The best way to connect to your higher self.

The journey back to Paro seems never-ending when knees start to wobble and ankles start to give-up. One can stop at the cafeteria mid-way to the car park and restore much needed energy.

Most tourists prefer to do the journey to the Tiger's Nest wearing traditional Bhutanese costume, adding a special touch to their holiday memories. Another to-do here, is to hoist the blessed prayer flags. Take your pick.

“Do not miss!”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

Its a pleasant trek to a brilliant view. I suggest you trek it up and do not take the pony. Saw a person fall off it when we went. You have the option of renting a stick in the beginning, which definitely makes it easier. There is a café midway to re energise yourself. The view from here is pretty. You have the choice of ending the trek here or continuing till the end. It relatively gets easier post this point. Then comes the steps, this is a bit tough but definitely worth it. Better to start the trek early in the morning. Gives you enough time. This way you can skip the mid noon heat and your back before it gets dark.

“A tough uphill hike to a beautiful Monastery on a Cliff Edge”
Reviewed 2 July 2014

This is a must d in Paro!. It took us 3.5 hours to go all the way up. Some folks can do it as fast as 2 hours. Coming back was 2.5 hours. The altitude slows you down, as you go from 2,000 meters to 2,800 meters. They have mules to take you up, but best to hile p and enjoy the views. Start early, like 9am and you should be done by 4:00pm Make a massage appointment in the evening. You will need it

“Challenging”
Reviewed 2 July 2014

As a senior citizen it was indeed a challenge to climb up Tiger's nest. Without the help of a pony ride, or a stick, and the rest of my family members and friends way ahead, i made it half way and halted at the cafeteria for almost three hours for the rest to return. Advice - Be fit, energetic and young.
