Wanting to view the beautiful shibazakura aka pink moss phloxes, we stopped by the tsuruga group’s Hina no za Onsen hotel along lake Akan.

A small cozy hotel with private and public onsens. The view of lake Akan is splendid.
The service at the hotel excellent. Almost everything was complimentary from drinks in the fridge to the bar.
Kaiseki dinner was satisfactory and sake was complimentary also.
Beautiful decor with lots of woodcarvings by a local artist really gave the hotel a cost ambience.
You can take a private boat or ferry tour to the island in the lake where the little centre
shows how Marimo ( moss balls) are formed. This is Uk the only place in the world where they grow.
Day trips to nature parks and marsh lands in Kushiro where you can view deer, cranes and eagles.

This hotel definitely has to be one of the best I have been to in my lifetime, and definitely a highlight of our recent trip to Japan. The service, food and facilities are top notch. We stayed for one night in a room with a private open-air onsen (Couples rooms) on the top floor, looking out onto the mountains (still with some snow on them in May!). Our check in was personalised & very detailed - we were given a welcome drink, and shown all the hotel facilities and our room. We arrived a little earlier than check in, but were let into our room which was great. Fantastic service and hospitality - above and beyond!

The room was very spacious and had very comfy beds and pillows (& a pillow menu), bottled water and a tea/coffee station. There was even a massage chair in the little lounge. The bathroom was large which led out to the bath outside via a shower. We stayed in early May 2018, so it was still quite cool. Sitting in the hot water with the cool air outside is just perfect. All amenities in the room were provided - I especially enjoyed the lavender body wash.

The kaisaki dinner (and breakfast) was so delicious, and there was plenty of food. We especially loved the tuna sashimi and wagu beef. We felt very full and satisfied after both dinner and breakfast!! It was an enjoyable experience to dine in our own private room.

The hotel offers complimentary alcohol/drinks at the bar as part of the room rate - soft drinks, juices, beer, wine & spirits! At the bar, they also offer complimentary snacks. During our stay, they offered delicious potatoes with butter and salt.

The lounge is also amazing - an open fire place (which free marshmallows to toast), selection of books, comfy seats and just a chilled out atmosphere. Loved the record player. The lounge led out to the front deck. The deck has a foot onsen which looks over a beautiful waterfall (bring your drink with you!). Absolutely stunning!

The hotel can arrange a free pick up/drop off service from either JR Kutchan or JR Niseko stations, but you will need to book in advance.

After our stay here, we definitely left feeling relaxed and pampered! Overall, I would definitely recommend to stay here. Thank you for making it a memorable and enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Go all out and book the room with the private onsen

We stayed at Niseko Konbu Onsen Tsuruga Moku-no-sho for 4 nights in March. The property is all exquisite class in every detail, the traditional Japanese style mixed with a modern twist, the welcoming and ever helpful staff, the beautiful onsen, japanese style Tatami rooms and the amazing food - cant recommend a stay at this Onsen hotel highly enough. The overall ambience is calming and relaxing, the staff are always there to assist but remain unintrusive, the Onsen itself is gorgeous, sitting in 42C water looking out over the snow covered hill-side.
We were on a skiing trip so we caught the shuttle across to Hirafu each morning and caught it back later in the afternoon, they run 3 times a day so you just have to organize your day around pick-up times.

Now the most amazing part of the stay was the food! We had half board so breakfast every morning and dinner every night, the dinner was a 9 course Kaiseki meal every night - I hate to sound ungracious but it almost became overkill to eat the most beautifully presented and delicous food every night - I have eaten Kaiseki meals in Tokyo that have cost $200 -300 AUD a head - I am not joking the food at Konbu Onsen is as good if not better and it is included in the room rate! Breakfast is similar with multi-course Japanese breakfasts - after huge meals we struggled a bit with breakfast to be honest!
Cant fault this property - the rooms were over-warm and couldn't control the heat but small quibble. The staff were all great and so friendly - the management were formal in a traditional Japanese manner but very gracious

Just loved this place - can be a pain that it is quite secluded and out of Niseko but that is a big plus also. We stayed in Niseko Hirafu and that is fun but Konbu Onsen gives you a real feel for Japanese Onsen tradition, culture and cuisine.

Room Tip: We didnt get a room with a private onsen which I imagine would be nice but the onsen itself is beautiful and happy to use the publicone.

We were given a gift of an onsen and dinner as a wedding gift. This included onsen, dinner, tea ceremony, relaxing in lounge toasting marshallows on an open fire, pick up and drop off from our hotel. A cultural and sensory experience second to none. Cannot rate this enough, no words can express the professionalism, experience, hospitality and sheer pleasure of this place.
