“Wonderful slope side hotel”
Reviewed 15 February 2014

I originally wanted to stay in Hirafu upper village but never could find a room to my liking and budget. I ended up selecting the Grenleaf for slope side location (and I could use some Hotels.com nights) and was extremely happy. The room was as pictured on the website, the staff helpful and friendly, the breakfast buffet was amazing and accommodated many different cultures and tastes. There were people from many countries staying here, a nice mix of old and young, families and couples. Everyone was enjoying themselves. The room, while not enormous, did not feel cramped, and it was nice to have a couch to relax on. I enjoyed the Onsen sitting outside while the snow continued to come down. I don't believe it stopped snowing while I was there. I used the free shuttle into the Hirafu upper village and from what I saw there I was even happier that I selected to stay at the Greenleaf. I highly recommend.

We stayed at this location for 8 nights Jan 2014, I have to rate this Hotel in several Category. 1. Customer Service Ms. Aya & Raymond 10/10. 2. Rooms 5/10, 3. bathroom 2/10. 4. Ski in Ski out 10/10. 5. Restaurant 5/10 no choices just 1 for this hotel, have to wait for bus to nearby Hilton, or the Hirafu Village. not convenient for party goers or bar hoppers. very peaceful location good for rest and relaxation. 6. Onsen 10/10 one of the best feature of this hotel, its a must if you like onsen

Room Tip: Get higher floor to have views of the mountain.

We stayed 10 nights at Niseko but unfortunately the Green Leaf overbooked on the first night and had to put us in the Hilton next door which turned out to be not as nice as the Green Leaf. We loved the comfortable room, friendly staff, Onsen, good location and board storage facilities at the Green Leaf. And to top it off you just walk out the door and your on the slopes. Breakfast buffet was good and the night buffet was excellent. The only improvement could be housekeeping which we found came sometimes mid morning and sometime late afternoon, consistency would be nice as it is always disappointing to walk into an unmade room. Easy to get to Grand Hirafu with shuttle buses.

Stayed in a corner suite for 6 days of skiing. Great rooms, lots of space, storage, amenities etc. Very comfortable. Onsen lovely, breakfast buffet quite extensive. Once you get the bus schedule sorted out it's easy to get to town but If I were doing it again, I.d choose a hotel in town. Staff helpful and Raymond was terrific helping us find and book restaurants. The dining room is a buffet which we do not like for dinner. Raymond found us some fabulous restaurants in town. Avoid the Hilton for dinner..way overpriced. We had Tepanyaki there which was good but too expensive.

This is the first time we (2 families with 2 teenage sons each) have been to Niseko. I was worried that this hotel may not exactly be ski-in/ski-out and the rooms may be too small.

Theis hotel absolutely offers convenient ski-in/ski-out ; from the ski centre (just next to the reception/check-in area), put on your skis and go straight down (a VERY gentle slope - I would've preferred slightly steeper to avoid a little bit of pushing) to the Banzai chair. The top of the Banzai chairlift will then allow you to ski to any other place on the mountain and if you buy the all-mountain pass, then you have access to 4 ski resorts and all their runs.

The ski rental facilities and the lockers for your gear are extremely convenient and good ; what a relief to be able to out on (and take off) all our gear just 30 seconds from the slopes !

The other great thing about this hotel (and not to be missed) l is the Onsen with an indoor Onsen and a fantastic outdoor Onsen where you can be one with nature !

Dining choices at this hotel is limited (there is only one real restaurant at the hotel) but the breakfast choice and quality is reasonable. However, there are lots of convenient choices by shuttle bus or by ski to other restaurants (5 mins away is the Crab shack) like the Hilton hotel (good reasonably priced lunch buffet) or indeed 15 minutes to the town of Hirafu.

The biggest gripe I have is wi-fi speed in my room - it's very poor but we found that if we go to the vending machine area on our floor (5th floor), the speed is pretty good. Service at this hotel is also friendly, prompt and helpful so absolutely no complaints in this area.

Overall, I would absolutely recommend this hotel especially given its facilities, it's price and the service.

Perfectly situated just out of town. Slopes are great, facilities are clean, tidy and well maintained. The recent renovation really tidied this place up. Bar and food options are expensive. But a shuttle buss into town for dinner is perfect. Access to the Niseko Village Ski resorts is easy with Gondala and shuttles running and best of all no matter how many skiers you will always feel like you are the only person on the mountain. Oh Yeah and the indoor / outdoor Onsen's are GREAT

Room Tip: Ask for rooms at the far end of the hallways

Frequent business traveler, this trip was however with family. Second year for Christmas to Hokkaido, first time to Green Leaf Niseko.
Booked hotel directly on their webpage several months ahead of trip. After booking had two simple issues prior to arrival: 1) which bus / train should we take from Sapporo airport 2) asked for concierge help with restaurant reservations. Send several email to the hotel's email address, never got any answer, only the usual auto reply "we will get back to you shortly". Several days prior to arrival our son had to go to hospital with 41C fever and hence we had to postpone our Niseko trip for three days. The bus company (which I had booked myself) and the restaurant (which I managed to book myself too) waived the cancellation penalty they were allowed to charge, only the Green Leaf got back to us with a brash answer, saying that we could cancel but would not get any refund. Interestingly enough this was the only time the Green Leaf answered to any email - somebody was obviously seeing $$$$$.
So we arrived at Niseko on Christmas Eve. No restaurant bookings had been made by the concierge. One of the staff at the check-in told us they were sorry for that and then he made a few helpless calls to book a dinner with no success. We were told the Green Leaf restaurant was fully booked and so were the other restaurants in the village. So we decided to take the 7pm bus to the village and try our luck. After waiting for 15 minutes outside of the hotel lobby a small van arrived, already entirely packed from the Hilton. Nobody from the long line of hotel guests waiting for this bus could get onto it, and we were told that the hotel was sorry as this was the small bus and the next big bus would arrive in another 30 minutes. Hey, this is only Christmas eve 7pm, and probably the busiest evening of the year, so why bother thinking about your bus arrangement... Hotel guests with restaurant bookings were not happy. We made it to the Hilton with the next bus and after some discussion got a dinner table... so much for the quality of their concierge service.
The bus is a story for itself, as on Dec 26, we spent 45 min at the village in heavy snowfall and cold waiting for a bus that simply never arrived.
More highlights? My wife booked a ski lesson at the Green Leaf one late morning and was told that it was happening at the Hilton. The question on how to best get there, was answered with a short "by bus". And when was the next bus leaving? "Oh - only after the ski lesson starts". Upon further enquiring the hotel staff said the Hilton staff "might" come pick us up for the lesson but they were very busy. More examples? Need cash on your credit card while staying at the Green Leaf? "Oh sorry..." Would like a late check out? "Oh sorry..." This hotel never even tries to provide the most basic service.

On the plus side the hotel has decent facilities with the ski lift in walking distance - but there are many hotels in Hokkaido offering the same - and we really liked their outdoor onsen.

Thank you for your recent feedback on Trip Advisor. Please allow us to address your comments accordingly.

i) During peak periods like Christmas, New Year and festive dates, our cancellation policies are similar to other International Ski resorts where there are no refunds for last minute cancellations.
ii) As this was the busy Christmas period, most of the popular restaurants in town were already fully booked out 30 - 60 days in advance. We do apologise for not replying on time to inform you on the availability. Measures have been taken to improve our Concierge services.
iii) Our Shuttle service is a scheduled complimentary service and sometimes during peak dinner periods, guests will have to wait for the next available bus. Alternatively, you can catch the Niseko United bus for free if you have an All Mountain Lift pass or pay a minimum fare of 150 yen to 370yen per person.
iv) Like all hotels during peak periods, all rooms will be required by the scheduled check-out time so that they can be cleaned and ready for the next guest. This is in consideration for the arrival of other guests. The hotel will be more than happy to store your luggage.
v) The hotel does not practice Cash advance on credit cards due to security reasons. Alternatively, there are cash machines at the Hilton or in Hirafu.

Once again, we thank you for your feedback and will continuously work on improving our services. We hope your recent experiences will not deter you from visiting us again.
