“Alaska Inn, way over priced!”
Reviewed 12 July 2014 via mobile

Not worth the money, we paid $300 per night for 2 adults and 2 kids. Wifi does not work in the room, beds are uncomfortable, TV has only 1 English station, the shower did not work, the receptionist is never there - there's a lot of issues in this hotel. We do not recommend this place in Metula, there must be a better place to stay.

Booked this one on line. Swimmingpool, jacuzzi, location. Looked very promising. On arrival we received an " upgrade" to room with balcony" . As we checked the room we were disapointed. BUT that's a matter of personal taste. Hotel is outdated. Like from the 80's. Low maintenance. As if they are about to go bust. We were the only guests. Lot's of things that need improvement. Wifi never works in the room only at the lobby is our conclusion reading other reviews. Staff is very helpfull and friendly. They get you discount vouchers for all attractions around. They do what they can to make your stay better and thats hard after starting of the wrong foot. Breakfast: they made us omelet every morning.
Beds are ok however curtains to short and first light is right in your eyes. Ok if you want to make most of your day. Jacuzzi is nice but seems out of place and too big for small bathroom. Standing in front of the sink you have one foot in the jacuzzi. No room for two people in the bathroom. Balcony was nice and huge. ( room 319) furniture is terrible taste but that's irrelivant. Fridge made lot of noice. At first I thought it came from outside like it was storming but it was the fridge, had to disconnect it. Huge tv in the room with " yes" satelite channels. Big plus. Swimming pool was empty and only open in july august. All in all... After the first shock we had good stay. They create false image on their website and this creates expectations they can't live up to. For Israeli standard it's ok, for west european standard it should not even be operational.
Staff is doing really their best ...

It started when our credit cards were charged at the beginning without us being told that unlike any other hotel they charge with arrival and not with departure. They 'accidentally' charged a few hundreds of shekels more than supposed to but that was fixed.

The entire hotel had a constant smell of rotten oily soup.

The rooms were extremely small and we could hear the people in the people in the nearby rooms talking or watching TV- needless to say the morning awakening by children in the halls was a nightmare.

The refrigerator was out of order.

The Wi-Fi stopped working, so we called the management and they said they will fix it shortly and yet they haven't done anything throughout our entire stay.

The breakfast was ridiculously unvaried that we basically settled for canned fruits and terribly made oily omelettes.

The doors didn't have a "Do Not Disturb" sign and so we had unwanted people entering our room in order to clean. When I told that to the manager as we left, he waved a sign to my face to show me that they do actually have them (just not in the rooms). Gee thanks!

Staff was rude and unhelpful.

Other than a nice view and fun tubs in the rooms, it was a very bad experience that's worth 5 times less than what we were charged. Will never return.
Not recommended.

Room Tip: Rooms in a different hotel.

Owner of the hotel (Reuven) charged us in advance, the moment we set foot in the place. He didn't even bother checking whether we like to pay via split monthly payments or not. Just one immediate full payment. In proper hotels, you pay during your check out.
Also, he over-charged our credit card by "accident" and was rather reluctant to provide refund after we brought this fact to his knowledge.

In terms of value for money, this place is a disgrace. Smelly corridors, noisy neighbors (virtually no sound insulation between rooms). Small, cramped toilets. Breakfast was unprecedentedly bad for this country. Wi-fi wasn't working, and despite our pleas and the promises we got from the staff - nothing was taken care of.

It is worth mentioning that in the street of the hotel there is a fine meat restaurant called "Hatahana", highly recommended!

Room Tip: Stay away from this place if you can! There are far better alternatives in Metula or neighboring set...

The acoustic insulation of the rooms is literally nonexistent. When the children in your floor would wake up at 6:30, be sure to wake up with them! Walls are so thin that you even hear people sneeze at other rooms.
The rooms were so small and lacked balconies (they probably tried to squeeze as many rooms as possible).
Breakfast was scarce, most basic in a very loud hall where there is no way to enjoy your food with the combination of screaming children and poor acoustics. Food quality was very poor and full of oil.

Service was beneath every basic standard, to the extent that the staff didn't do more than the bare minimum.

Not worth the money they charge, seems like they try to save on everything they can and of course charge extra where they can.
There are plenty of better options in Metula, don't do the mistake we did.

Spent there five nights in late November, the service was great. They were straight forward and helpful. I got in really late on the first evening and the Chef (Kushi) personally went out of his way past midnight to make me some French toast- even though he was off shift, and the kitchen was closed.

The room was basic, but all was functional and very clean. Given the reasonable price I actually consider it a barging. I would definitely return. Nevertheless, I would recommend coming in the spring or summer as it does get chilly in the evening up there in Metula.

Stayed at Alaska Inn for 5 nights, Very comforting atmosphere. Staff was very generous, Rooms had exactly all I needed, comfortable bed, good shower, a fridge and all I needed for coffee.
Food was good, I personally enjoyed it.
It is amazing for me to see how such a big hotel is run with only 4 constant Staff members, Seemed like those guys never rested.
Thank you very much

Room Tip: Only seen a standard room, so I wouldnt be able to advise others, but My room had a great bed, showe...
