The Inn at Depot Hill is not only cozy and charming in its' own right, but it's located in a perfect spot. At the top of a small hill overlooking the unique beach community of Capitola, it is only a 3 - 5 minute walk from the beach, several good restaurants, and leisure shopping in a number of local boutiques. My husband and I have made multiple trips to this inn over the past 4 years, and every one of our 2 - 3 night stays have been perfect. The inn exterior and grounds are well maintained. The interior lobby, as well as each tastefully decorated room is fresh, clean, and inviting. The good-sized rooms have comfortable beds and special details, such as over-stuffed chairs, fireplaces and beautiful bathrooms, that enhance your stay. There is a late afternoon wine, cheese and dessert available for guests each day, as well as a great complimentary breakfast. Each morning offers a special menu with an entree, fruit, orange juice and/or coffee. The quality of this meal is comparable or better than I have experienced in a 4-star restaurant (the maple/pecan french toast with sausage is to die for). And, guests can choose lobby dining, or enjoy breakfast delivered to their room at no additional cost. There is on-site parking which is a big plus. Additionally, the staff is friendly, readily available, and willing to assist with anything needed. Based on all these features, this inn proves to be an excellent value. We have never been disappointed staying here. It's the perfect romantic, as well as friends, get-away. You can relax in comfort, and enjoy all that the Inn, and Capitola has to offer.

There is a lot to like at this Inn. Super well maintained rooms and premises, wonderful perks like wine, cheese, dessert wines, coffee/tea always available. Included breakfast of pancakes, fresh fruit and OJ was very good but not as diet conscious as I would have liked ( too many white carbs in the am). The host was really friendly and accommodating.
The room we had had a double shower, super comfy bed, nice lighting, working gas fireplace, turn down service if you go for that. The amenities were all well thought out from the soaps and water in the room, to the hot tub out back all the way to the details in the wall paper and drapes and heat lamps in the bath. This place is really comfortable,I would highly recommnend it for a short getaway.
Suggestion to mngment: The old pull out TV wall closet should be converted to a mini bar, and you need to change all those old fashioned locks that require you to put the key in and turn to lock up before leaving, to more modern simple close and lock type.

Room Tip: Ask about the various themed rooms with different decor, to find that suits your taste

Depot Hill Inn is a cozy bed and breakfast. Loved the location, quiet hill but only a short walk from the town and the beach. You can also take steps up the Depot Hill.
Lovely wine hour with good appetizers. At night some desert wine with chocolate was a nice touch. Room (we stayed at Stradford on Avon) had a very comfy bed and nice bathroom with two showers.
Breakfast was beautiful with fresh fruits, pancakes were a little dry, could've used a little less starchy meal, but I overhead the staff accommodating other guest with eggs.
I would highly recommend if you don't mind paying, but I think it was a good value.

I've been staying at this lovely bed and breakfast for many years. It is an old depot that has been renovated with unique creativity. Each room has a different country feel...french, english, japanese. It is upscale and everything is done to perfection. The breakfasts are THE most delicious I have EVER had. It is so romantic. Most rooms have both whirlpools and fireplaces. Bring you loved one and prepare to be spoiled.

Room Tip: The Japanese room is so lovely and quiet

Do we love this hotel?
YES!

Great comfortable and quirky rooms. Very clean, spotless in fact. We stayed in Rail Road Baron's room one of the themed rooms with its dark damask red walls and opulent furnishings. Not to everyone's taste but all the rooms are very different and cater for all.

The bathroom was stunning with a deep tub under a big sky light, grey marbled floor and tiles and a shower big enough for two.
The bed was so comfortable that we spent most of Sunday afternoon in our room.

The breakfast is delivered to your room at no extra charge and is a different set menu each day.

Wine and cheese nibbles of exceptional quality are served between 5 and 7pm.

It is set in a quiet location a top of the hill next to a defunct rail track. It was indeed a rail road depot hence the name.

There is an external jacuzzi which is set in a private area.
If you are looking for a romantic serene get away, look no further, this is your place.
Is it expensive? Well by British standards possibly, but not by US levels. This is a great hotel and there were two small faults:
1. TV didn't work.
2. Door handle of room came off
My one suggestion is that they get a better janitor. Apart from this it is excellent.
