“Popular Beach Is Very Scenic”
Reviewed 15 August 2014

The beach was quite crowded on a Thursday afternoon. Surrounding the beach are a number of eateries and watering holes. The food is great in a few and not so great in others. To avoid disappointment, check reviews before selecting one.
Capitola is a more affluent town; there are few derelicts on the street compared to Santa Cruz. Traffic and parking is miserable in Capitola. Expect to pay for parking. If you don't arrive early, a parking space in the downtown may be hard to find. In that case, you may need to park away from the downtown and walk in. Given the scenery, consider yourself lucky if you cannot find a space downtown. The walk into the downtown is actually better than driving.

“Wild Surf and Busy People”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

Capitola Beach is a great place to people watch. There are many people on the sand, in the water and on the sidewalks. The beach is narrow, so the walk to the water is short. The topography drops off quickly, allowing large waves to crash right onto the sand. Not a great place for small children, but the teenagers love it! Parking is a little tough. We have had good fortune finding spots within 2 blocks of the beach on each visit, but the spots are metered with a 2 hour maximum, so good to keep track of the time. There are many, interesting shops offering trendy fashions, typical tourist souvenirs and desserts + coffee, of course. Capitola is a very fun place to spend an afternoon.

“A nice place if you can get there.”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

Capitols beach is in a charming neighbourhood with nice shops for beach bums. An ideal family stop - if you can get close. Easy and safe surf for kids. Parking most weekdays is difficult at best, impossible on weekends.Even though a shuttle bus was advertised to and from the beach, we never saw one.

“Reliable Local Chain for Breakfast & Lunch”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

I believe dinner is served, as well, as lunch & breakfast. Nice assortment of healthful foods: soups, salads, sandwiches. Yogurt and granola available for breakfast. When we ate at the 1475 41ST Ave, Suite A2, Capitola, CA site, it appeared short handed. Also, a new staff member was early in training. Waits were long and mistakes were made in our order. Still, we would eat at Erik's again.

“Great trip for the family!! 7/20-7/24”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

My family of 5 ( 2 teenagers and a 8 y/o) stayed here for 5 days. It was absolutely beautiful. We spent 8 days in Tahoe before we came here and wished we stayed here longer. We stayed in the village area in a rental condo. Everything you need in walking distance. Great food! Pizza my Heart is awesome! We order a pizza to go and set on the beach front and watch the sunset. The beach is 5 min away anywhere you stay in the village. If you need groceries there is a super Target 5 min down Capitola boulevard. Santa Cruz boardwalk and beach is 10 min down the road, and worth the visit. Just a all around great place for a family vacation.

Look up the Super Cute Capitola village apartment on ( airnb) to rent. The owner John is great and the apartment is very nice and clean. A lot cheaper than a hotel and closer to beach and cheaper. Great place!

What a nice vacation spot!
