My wife and I were staying the weekend in Santa Cruz and took a day trip to Carmel. On the way south, we stopped in Capitola for breakfast. Zelda's was serving their weekend "brunch" rather than their weekday "breakfast" which made everything a buck or two more. It was worth it. Both of us had great breakfasts (brunches?) that were nearly impossible to finish. One thing that made it hard was the basket of hot muffins they served us before our meal arrived. As good as any muffins I have ever eaten! We liked breakfast so much that we stopped on the way back from Carmel for dinner. We ate out on the deck and had a lovely view of the beach and the wharf. Dinner was not as good as breakfast, though it was not bad. Plenty to eat at a price that is not unreasonable, considering the view and the location. I would definitely go back, though more likely for breakfast than for dinner.

I went to the wharf at Capitola to have a bowl of clam chowder today. All the wharf restaraunts had bars with one or two drunks. I choose Zelda's which had some letches.

A large bowl of chowder cost 6.95, but is smallish, was very thick, and came with crackers only.

Service was OK. All the young pretty waitresses wore tank tops. I wondered why the one young male did not as well. It was a good size lunch but I am use to getting larger bowls. It was about 8 oz..
