Thip Residence Boutique Hotel
Ranked #2 of 5 Hotels in Sai Thai
Reviewed 13 May 2014

The hotel is a 2 storey building facing the sea. There is no lift in the hotel, thus, be prepared to carry your luggage up a flight of stairs. Judging from the rooms furnishing, this hotel is most probably 20-30 years old, or at least, that is how it looks. Shower curtain is ineffective and the water from the shower area easily flows to the rest of the bathroom. At the back of the hotel, one will find a nice, swimming pool with jacuzzi at one end. Ample space to park your car if you have one. Staff is not friendly and doesn't smile, that's a big surprise considering this is Thailand, where it's famous for it's hospitality.

Thank you very much for spending time writing for us a review.
Our hotel is not as old as 20-30 years as you estimate ,it's quite pessimist.
However, we appreciate in every opinion and would improve as possible .

Best Regards

We loved Thip residence for it's great facilities, big, clean rooms, wonderful pool, breakfast and of course - the amazing staff! They were so helpful with everything from laundry, tour schedules, diving trip coordination, and even allowed us to rent a motorbike to go to town. The one problem with the hotel is the location - which we should have been more keen to notice before booking - the hotel is about 10 mins away from Ao Nang by taxi or motorbike - this makes for a very quiet area, with little to do within walking distance. Fortunately, every activity we booked was able to pick us up from the hotel, so we didn't suffer much of it during the day.. The problem was at night when we wanted to go out to town, and had to borrow a motorbike for 200 thb (and hope it won't rain :) )
We were able to find a lovely local restaurant a few minutes walk from the hotel. I'm not sure the name, but if you walk out of the hotel, turn right and walk up the road, it's a few doors down from the family mart. The food was excellent and cheap (40 thb for some items!).
We only ate at the hotel restaurant for breakfast, and that was excellent as well! Very nice to start the morning off with some fresh, good food :)
In short - if you are looking for a nice, quiet hotel, with excellent service, but don't mind the distance from popular food/shopping areas - this is it! But if you need to be within walking distance of the action - look for something closer to Ao Nang.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool facing room when booking - we stayed at a street facing room, which wasn't noisy...

OK it may have been my mistake but when I first looked at this hotel I thought it was in Ao Nang but its not. It is only a 20bht taxi/bus ride away. Except in the evening when you have to get a taxi.
The hotel staff were not full of Thai smiles but the were helpful up to a point. There are a few basic eating places around other than that there is nothing! The swimming pool is clean as was the room. I never did find my way to beach all i find was a pier and lots of noisy long tail boats … no sand.

I cannot say enough nice things about our stay at Thip Residence. Everyone working there was very helpful and friendly. And Ju, the owner, was so very accommodating, kind and helpful. Any questions/problems we had were quickly answered. The rooms are big (we were 3); our room faced the road, but it was quite quiet. The A/C worked well and didn't make noise. The garden has a large pool and jacuzzi, as well as others areas with small huts and lots of foliage to provide shade.
The restaurant, Jasmine Rice, was excellent. We ate there every night (trying different dishes every time) except once when we were Ao Nang for the evening.
Although this hotel is a bit away from town, we didn't mind at all. 20baht/person for the bus (benches in the back of a truck) to Ao Nang – about 10 minutes. We never went to Krabi town as Ao Nang had everything (and a lot of shopping!). Thip Residence is a 5mn walk to the dock where there are longtail-boats to get to Railay Beach (80baht) and other places. Only a 5mn walk to a Family Mart and ATMs and a bit longer to 7/11. Just a couple doors down from the Family Mart is a local restaurant that I recommend. Great food, great prices – not really a tourist place, more for the locals, but they do speak enough English.
I took a Thai cooking course nearby and was able to share the dishes with my family as the people at the restaurant kindly reheated everything. Ju helped me with finding some of the ingredients for the recipes. I highly recommend the Thai massage available at the hotel. Of the 7 nights we were there, my daughter and I had 4 massages. Excellent!
We had a wonderful time and would not hesitate to stay here again.

Room Tip: There is no fitness center, but I didn't know how to undo a response, so I'm considering the...

What a pleasant place to stay in the Krabi area. Very hospitable people. Ju, the owner/manager was always available for us and the front desk manager helped us with everything we needed during our stay. The room was very spacious with a large double bed and a small balcony, desk, TV and water heater for our morning tea. In the garden a large pool with deck chairs and parasols and small huts in the garden where to just lay down and be lazy.

Room Tip: We had a room in the front overlooking the road, somewhat noisy at times but nothing to realy worry...

I like trip advisor, but I do think that some time things are not reported correctly.

One is is on a very busy road and if you have the deluxe rooms you have this noise from 6,30 am.
There is a constant noise like a lift operating but there is no lift( all the time).
Two
The beach across the road is not a beach
Three
There is nothing around this property apart from the hotels restaurant. You are 500 bath cab ride back at night.

On the up side it has a pool at the rear

In short I would not come back

Thank you very much for spending time writing for us a review .
I am quite remember you well about your staying and leaving for one more night in our neighbor hotel.
The first start between us may not be impressed because you refused to responsible for the airport pick up that you ordered via email before arrival. We didnot insist for your responsibility and paid for it instead .
Our location may not be a perfect one but we try to tell the truth in all our expression and reasonable.
