Stayed here for 3 nights with family in 1 BR condo. Patio had ocean view. Beach was across a small street and down a few sets of stairs. Small, but nice pool and a few hot tubs. Nice gym with helpful staff. Scheduled activities throughout day such as yoga and root beer float social for additional fee. Restaurants within walking distance. Short drive to grocery store if you wanted to cook. No mandatory timeshare pitch. We were able to check in early, and front desk called us when condo was ready. Free parking and free wi-fi. A pleasant stay in an attractive resort and convenient location.

I stayed here with last weekend for my birthday, the hotel was to say the least very underwhelming. I havent stayed in a motel 6 or any motels but it certainly felt like i was in one when i was there. The room that we got felt like it was stuck in the 90's. Asked the receptionist if we can get an upgrade and pay extra but nothing was accomodated. I didnt even noticed the pool area, lets just say that it was very uninviting. I dont get the good reviews really.

Our family just returned home from a 4 night stay at the Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort, and we loved it! It was smaller and less luxurious than what we normally would choose for accommodations, but, we found that it suited our needs perfectly...maybe even better! We initially stayed on the hotel side of the property for a couple of nights, then we were moved to a condo for the last couple of nights because the hotel was booked. Both were equally comfortable and clean, and had nice views of the pool, lawn and the ocean. What we liked best about this hotel was the service. Unlike some of the larger and more luxurious hotels, the staff at the Carlsbad hotel was extremely personable. They get to know the guests, greeting us by name, and accommodating our needs to their best ability. We were particularly annoying guests with lots of requests for rooms with good views (I know how annoying this can get because I used to work in the hotel business), and yet they did everything possible to make sure we were happy, and they met our requests with smiles and great attitudes. Nick and Khara at the front desk were wonderful, and Yvonne at the concierge desk was a delight. They all went out of their way to make sure we were happy and comfortable! We were also impressed with the housekeeping staff who kept the rooms spotless, and were respectful of our privacy as we slept in late, enjoying some much needed rest. Other things we liked: the fireplace in the lobby (and the massage chair in front of it one morning), the village surrounding the hotel and the ease of walking to restaurants and the beach. You truly can park your car at the beginning of the trip, and never go back to it until your departure day, if you wish. We liked the fire pits on cool evenings, the option of grilling and preparing dinner with an ocean view if you choose to do so on longer stays in the condos (especially with kids), the relaxed atmosphere of the whole place. A few things we missed: room service. Yes, an occasional breakfast in bed would have been nice! There is coffee every morning in the library/lobby area, and that could be improved with some kind of light continental breakfast additions, or at least some hot cocoa packets for kids. There are not enough lounge chairs by the pool or on the lawn. (And there is that annoying habit of guests "reserving" chairs early in the morning with a towel and sunblock, and then disappearing all day, leaving an unused chair and nowhere for anyone who is actually present at the pool to sit! But, that happens everywhere.) One thing I can say for sure is that we will definitely be returning to the Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort. I had a hard time leaving. Already trying to figure out the next trip.

Room Tip: My personal preferences for views were 2nd and 3rd floor condos facing the lawn, or partial-view oce...

We just got home from our week in Carlsbad. We stayed here only 2 nights. Stayed 3 nights at the West Inn (which we absolutely loved.) This hotel is on the older side. The employees were friendly, check in was quick and easy. We had two rooms and they let us check into 1 of the rooms very early because it was ready, but had to wait till regular check in time for the second room (no problem). We were on third floor room 337 and they were able to put the second room right across from us 325. We got the 1 bedroom condo. Full kitchen, living area and room with a king bed. Bed was ok, not the most comfortable. Maybe because we were spoiled by the previous hotel we stayed at. The bathroom is VERY small even though it looked like it was recently remodeled. It has two doors, one connecting to the bedroom the other leading to the living room. It was actually just very narrow. We didn't spend much time in our rooms except to sleep. The pull out bed was terrible. All you feel is the springs. Luckily my young 4 year old boys were super tired each day and slept through the night. I did not like staying on the third floor. There was only one old, tiny elevator. The wait each time always took forever. If I wasn't pregnant or had small children with me, it would of been quicker taking the stairs. I had purposely pack less, because there was a laundromat on location. But it consisted of two working washing machines and four dryers for the whole hotel. Each time I went down to do laundry they were always occupied. And it was way down in the parking garage area. All other time share places I have stayed at, actually had a washer and dryer in the room which is way more convenient. I never did get to do my laundry. The pool was small and the hot tub next to it was also small and old looking. Not enough lawn chairs and no shade. There is a nice outdoor courtyard with 2 firepits. I would only recommend this hotel for it's location. Conveniently right across the street from the beach and Carlsbad village. Walking distance to a bunch of restaurants. But the rooms itself are average at best.

We stayed at the Carlsbad Inn Resort recently for a wedding and were very pleased. The property is right on the ocean. It has a very pretty grounds area which isn't big but is very well manicured and very quaint. There's a small pool ( though it was too cold to swim) and an outdoor hot tub that is set up to where you can see the ocean from there. There were nice fire pits outside that we really enjoyed later in the evening. There is no bar / restaurant on property but there's a Mexican restaurant right next door with a very nice outdoor patio that had the best tacos and a breakfast place right next to it so it was still pretty convenient. The rooms were nice and clean. We enjoyed our stay here.

At Carlsbad Inn there is an attitude by the staff and that is to make certain the guests have a great vacation. The crew there is pleasant and quick to respond to your needs. My advice is if you have an issue or something you need help with a call to the front desk is usually all it takes. Our housekeeper (Who did a great job by the way) had forgotten to leave another roll of toilet paper when she cleaned. After the call some was delivered by a smiling houseman within 5 minutes. We also asked for a nonstick griddle for pancakes and it was brought in good time. They work hard at keeping the property updated clean and looking sharp. There is coffee etc. available in the mornings in the main building. The activities staff and the front desk all work to create a pleasant atmosphere. We stayed a week There was a welcome party on Sunday and a Bon Voyage party on Friday. Entertainment was good in fact one of the bands the Johnson Brothers has been playing at the Carlsbad Inn for over 20 years. The grassy area is so relaxing and with the ocean view wow. We like to walk to many of the local restaurants, the village is so nice and quaint. Our favorite restaurant in Carlsbad is Fish House Vera Cruz. The last couple of trips we have started going to Las Olas and Koko Beach and can recommend them both. We have been vacationing at Carlsbad Inn for over 10 years and always look forward to a return trip. We went in August and there were lots of families with wide age ranges from babies to elderly grandparents. The pool is full of children and their families, although there is also an adult only hot tub. (If you are in search of an adults only quiet type resort do not go here when school is out you will be disapointed) The rec room and gym are a nice benefit also. There is beach equipment like chairs boogy boards, umbrellas and sand toys.
LOCATION is the best, and the beach is really nice.

What an awesome resort. We had a king suite room 369, the balcony had the best oceanview in the resort . The room had a mini fridge, microwave and a Kuerig coffemaker, Just perfect for keeping our wine and snacks. The room was very spacious and the bathroom had a huge jetted tub with marble surround (a little outdated) But nice if thats what you like. the grounds, pool and hot tub areas were very well maintained. Flowering bushes and shrubs abound. We especially loved sitting at the open fireplaces sipping wine in the evening. We were there for a much needed break fro the snow in the northeast. we weren't disappointed the weather was great. The staff at the resort were all very friendly and helpful. It is a time share facility and as such they also had lots of daily activities you are welcome to attend. we did go to the Karaoke night and had a good time. Carlsbad Inn is right in the heart of the little town and was within walking distance of the shops and restaurants. Quick and easy access to the I-5 Freeway and the Coastal Hwy. I will definitely stay here again and would encourage anyone reading this post to do the same.

Room Tip: ask for an ocean view odd numbered rooms(367, 369 etc)
