Sitting at the bar. It's 6:45 and my husband and I are 1/2 way through our drinks and we ask for another round before happy hour ends at 7:00. We are told we have to finish our drinks before we can be served another round, per management. REALLY? Management in this nice restaurant doesn't want to serve it's customers what they asked for? We'll...they just lost a couple of customers. Their are too many great places in Carlsbad competing for business. Too bad...because the food is actually very good.

Tommy V's is tucked away in the back of a neighborhood shopping center. It is very nicely appointed and the food selections change frequently. I schedule small sales meetings regularly and everyone enjoys the food and the attentive service. The only negative I have seen is that with many hard surfaces, it sometimes get's loud. But it's worth putting up with a little noise because the food and service is excellent.

Lunchtime with a friend for our mutual birthdays so, expectation to make lunch something special. Instead, picture this scenario: Waiter recited the specials and left. He brought water and we said no ice so he left. Came back poured lukewarm water and left. Came back and took drink order and left (we were ready to order). Came back took the order and walked away before we could ask about the food. Another person dropped our food on the table about 5 min. later and walked away without asking if that was what we ordered. Never got refills on the coffee. We got the sense that they just wanted us in and out so, despite louder than loud atmosphere, we sat there and held the table as long as we wanted with no visit from any staff. Next birthday we'll go to Pure Burger across the street!.

Love the atmosphere. A really classy bar/bistro. We ordered martinis to start. My Appletini was delicious. We then ordered the filet mignonette bruschetta to start and split a caprese burger, medium rare. Both orders came out at once. Wierd. The bruschetta was fantastic, and so was the burger, but it wasn't the one we ordered. To their credit, they offered to replace it, but the burger we got looked great so we went with that. It was properly prepared and very good. My husband loved the thick French fries. We'll be back.

Came in around 4pm and since that is such a random time we were pretty much the only ones here. We sat at the bar and were provided with excellent service from the bartender. They have a small amount of beer on tap but they make up for it with great cocktails. We ordered the Urban Board which had a ton of food, cheese, meats, flatbread, olives, all sorts of good things. We also had an order of the bruschetta with apple and brie which was good but not needed since the board was so large. The restaurant was clean as well as the bathrooms. They have an outdoor patio and the inside of the restaurant is large, open and airy.
