I cannot find fault with this property! Their staff is about the friendliest we have every encountered! The property was clean, the one bedroom unit on the 3rd floor was spacious, the kitchen complete, the beds comfortable and the towels soft. This would be a fantastic place to come with kids, as they are tons of activities for little kids, along with volleyball, ping pong, basketball, tennis & more for older kids. We were in building 3 which was directly behind the family pool with a nice ocean view. Seems to me that building 5 would be the worst to be put in. The train really did not annoy me, as they seemed to go by quickly and quietly and didn't start blowing their horns until after 8:00 am. UNTIL the last night when a large train went by at 3:20 am, blowing it's horn the whole time. There is a $14/night fee which includes WiFI, parking and just about anything you could possibly want to borrow for the beach. Other reviews have stated poor cell phone service. I had one call disconnected once, but other than that it was fine. Now for my "HOWEVER"......the beach is a short walk down a bluff/hill and the beach is pretty narrow. There are no restaurants within walking distance. Because of this, we ended up driving every morning into the quaint town of Carlsbad and using their nicer/larger beach and nicer bathrooms. Then we would drive back to the timeshare, shower and drive back into town for dinner. Not a long drive, but I prefer to be within walking distance to shops and large beach. We exchanged thru RCI and they have a 1 in 4 rule which includes any combination of a number of So Cal timeshares, so if we are to return in 4 years, I would probably hunt for a unit in their sister property, The Carlsbad Inn, which is right there in town. Again, my "however" is about the location. The property itself is excellent.
