Stayed for 2 nights with 3 children ages 9, 7 and 4. The idea of this hotel was awesome and as soon as you walk in, there are things to keep the kids busy. Lots of lego ready to be played with all over the place. Every corner, there was some lego structure or character and the kids loved it. We arrived a bit earlier then the official check in time and was put in a waiting list to get in early so we headed off to visit the aquarium as we had a 2 day park hopper pass. We were able to our passes ahead of time. They called us at around 2pm and notified us that our room was ready, we picked up our room keys at the concierge which made the process very smooth.

The room itself was particularly good. The kids section was separated by the bathroom which was very fun for them. Bathroom had a stool which was AWESOME for our little one to brush teeth and wash hands. As soon as we got in, there was a game for them to do to open a treasure chest in the room. Kids loved it. It was clean and roomy for the room type and had lots of cool lego creations all over the room. Fridge a little small but the room came with breakfast included which was GREAT!

The restaurant was also surprisingly good. Not sure what all the complaints are about, we thought the selection was decent and not just the usual breakfast buffet affair. Lots of healthy choices and the staff kept the areas very clean. Just have to arrive early enough to avoid the mad rush of people at around 8:30am. We always got there around 8am and never had to wait for a table. Dinner was also the same, good selection, some items were to be desired but overall a good choice after a long day in the park. Be there before 6pm as it does get busy after that.

Location to the park was obviously very convenient and the early entrance worked well even if it was only for a few rides in the park. Pool was good for the kids, no waterslide and no hot tub which was disappointing. Staff helpful and accommodating.

As a comparison, we just stayed at the Grand Californian in Disneyland the few days earlier and this hotel was definitely worth the visit for the extra cost, whereas the Grand Californian it was slightly worth the extra cost. With all the extra things in the room, location and included breakfast, excellent visit.

We stayed here in June 2013 in a Kingdom room and my 10yr old son & 5 yr old daughter loved it. Due to the cost we only stayed 1 night but that was fine as we were only doing 1 day at Legoland!!

My kids loved the Disco elevator and the pool. The dinner buffet was good and had a great selection for kids. Overall the theming in the hotel is spot on !!

My kids enjoyed the nightly entertainment (beware it was packed!)

The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. Check in was a madhouse! Access to and from the park was a snap!

Overall a great experience but at 300 a night it's was special treat - not sure we will stay again!

Going on vacation with your kids to a theme park? Repeat after me:

"Theme park is expensive. Theme park hotel is expensive. Theme park hotel food is expensive. Kids are expensive."

If you can admit to yourself that all of the above is indeed true, then you will be happy with your stay at the Legoland Hotel. And this is why you should just suck it up and stay here:

1. Hotel guests get early access (half hour before general entry) to a few of the rides. We rode the Sky Cruiser, Kid Power Tower, and Coastersaurus a few times within that first half hour. Once the park opened, there were super long lines for those (and Sky Cruiser is not worth more than 5 minutes wait).

2. It is right next to the Legoland park, so if you are at the park and you have to run back to your room for whatever reason, you can.

3. All the kid-friendly details - my children (ages 5 & 7) really enjoyed having their own "kids only" bunk beds (and trundle bed underneath). They also loved the disco elevator, nightly shows, and the welcome Treasure Hunt which opens a safe with goodies in the room. They especially obsessed over the buffet at Bricks Restaurant because they liked the sense of independence in getting their own plate and picking their own food at the kids' station.

Other stuff you should know:

1. There is no hot tub. The pool is heated, but if the air is 60 degrees (as it was when we stayed the first week of April), it makes for a chilly time at the pool.

2. There is indeed a microwave in the hotel - it is a small one located in the vending machine area by the pool.

3. The hotel is only about a year old and while super clean and colorful, it is already showing signs of wear and tear. There were dings and scuffs on our room walls. I think of it as having IKEA-esque decor - clean and trendy, but won't last long.

Overall, we were very pleased with our experience and will do it again before our kids outgrow Legoland. Time with happy kids - priceless. (I know, that was cliché. I blame the kids.)

The hotel was so awesome!! The buffet was excellent things for healthy parents and no and stuff the kids all love. The service from all the staff was beyond excellent. The rooms are so well done and not a thing missing. Perfect for families we plan on going again. We went during spring break and it was awesome the nightly entertainment was awesome and I love how the parents could watch from the cafe seating area while sipping on coffee or wine. This is one place we will go to again and again!!

Room Tip: all rooms are themed so it doesn't matter where you stay

A very fun hotel to stay at - ideal location to the park - very pricey, but enjoyed just the same. We were here on a family trip and had fun with our grand children. The buffet breakfast was awesome for all ages, young and not so young alike. Enjoyed the "everything is awesome" disco elevator immensely as we all love the movie Frozen!
