Description: "The Mikes," as these two are fondly referred to by the locals, opened Dini's Bistro in 1987 and it has become a Carlsbad landmark. Co-owners Michael Dini and Michael Arellano continue the heritage established by the Dini brothers- Amerigo, Columbo and Michael Sr., who were the proprietors of San Diego County's oldest bar, McDini's, founded in 1890. The Dini brothers tradition of effervescent hospitality and service to their patrons and community is alive today.

The reviews were awesome so we had high expectations. We were seated outside and the view is nice facing the water (the highway is in between so it is not right on the water) and watching the sun set. I was surprised the chairs were green plastic lawn chairs and the place was a bit grubby. The lounge/bar area was packed and obviously a great place to hang out. My son ordered fish and chips off the kid's menu but it did not taste like any fish we have ever had so he didn't like it. We ordered nachos there were filled with stuff but a bit too mushy and not enough chips (we ended up eating them with a fork). I wouldn't order them again. A young girl served us but was unfortunately occupied by some strange fellow next to us that demanded a lot of her attention. I didn't see anyone in charge and I felt like I needed to see Dini.

Food was good as well as the service! Very casual and close to the Village. Bar and restaurant are separated which is nice. Right across from the beach so great view!

Live in Leucadia and on occasion we have stopped here for cocktails at sunset. Nice views but the only downer is that highway 101 is very busy comming and going along 101, and a lot of pedestrian traffic too. Happy hour is what we like and a good crowd of locals are there! prices are good and they have been there for ever!!!!!

Beautiful view of sunset! Best sourdough bread brought out before meal, warm with butter. As others have said, one half of restaurant is a bar very crowded and loud, restaurant is nice & quiet. So if you walk in through the bar with the kids like we did, just a forewarning...it is kid friendly past the bar. Kids liked their fish & chips, it was yummy. I got a pasta dish with mussels on top a tad spicy for me, so if you don't like spice don't get it. Hubby had surf n turf burger. A burger with lobster on it, he said it was really good. After dinner, we walked across to the beach which was beautiful. Cold June night for us Texans, take a sweater! Definitely recommend this restaurant.
