“Awesome hotel, even better location”
Reviewed 15 April 2012 via mobile

Just returned from a week long stay in the San Diego area with the kids. We spent 4 nights at the Marriott on Coronado island and 2 nights at the Beach Terrace Inn in Carlsbad and I must say I wish we had stayed at this hotel the whole week. From what we could tell, it's the only beach front hotel in Carlsbad. The rooms are very spacious and stylish. The bathrooms are also large. The service was friendly. They offer free breakfast & free wifi & free parking in their private lot. The view of the Pacific Ocean from our room was breathtaking. All in all we were very impressed. We highly recommend staying at the Beach Terrace if you're visiting Legoland/The Flower Fields or La Jolla area. It's about 30 mins from the San Diego Zoo.

Just returned home from a 5-day stay. It was our first time at this hotel but it definitely won't be our last. The location was perfect and the rooms are big so you don't feel cramped. The breakfast they served each morning was great. Also, the staff was super friendly and helpful. We always like being right on the beach and this hotel fits the bill.

Room Tip: If you want the pool ourside your door stay on the lower level.

A terrific spot right on a really clean sand beach. There's a small pool for kids and a very good breakfast is included. It is pricey though IMHO

The Beach Terrace Inn was great. My 7 year old son LOVED being able to run right onto the beach. It is a very relaxing place and the staff was very nice. Breakfast was great and since we were off early to places like Legoland and the Zoo it was great to not have to run out or stop somewhere for food. Pool area was nice. The pool is basic but very true to the photo. They have chairs for beach and sand toys for the kids. Don't go out and buy any your kids can play with all the ones that have been left behind! The rooms are huge! The beds are very comfortable and the bathroom was lovely as well. My only issue is with noise between rooms. On Saturday night people above us must have been "partying" a bit so that was disruptive. Since it is a remodeled hotel I don't think the sound proofing is particularly good. But for the most part what you hear is the crashing waves on the beach. Can't beat that! Carlsbad is a great little town and you are about a 1 block walk from it, so grabbing dinner is a breeze. We are looking forward to a return trip.

My husband and I took our 2 kids, ages 9 and 5, here last week for 2 nights. We were traveling there to do Lego Land, which we did one of the days BUT I would of much preferred to just stay at this hotel the whole time!
You can't get any closer to the beach! Our room was a double king, ocean front, poolside room. From our room to the pool was 30 seconds, another 30 seconds to the beach. Our room was huge, more than enough room. Huge bathroom and shower. Walk onto our deck and you look over the pool and to the ocean...beautiful! There was a little wet bar area with a small fridge. The continental breakfast was great, all sorts of bagels, toast, english muffins, cereals, yogurts, pastries, fresh fruit, juices...and several other items.
10 minutes or less walk to Starbucks and plenty of restaurants to choose from. The sfaff was very friendly and helpful.
It's a smaller hotel, so you don't have the big hotel amenities, but we didn't care at all and actually preferred the smaller hotel feel. My daughter who is 9 was able to run back and forth to the room on her own while we were at the pool and was a safe area. I also loved leaving our door open and listening to the ocean all night!

If you are looking to spend a couple of days on the beach and playing at the pool, this is well worth every penny. We are looking forward to staying here again, this time without doing Lego Land! We'd rather just stay and hang out at the hotel. We couldn't find one negative thing about this place!

Room Tip: I would spend the extra money and get the ocean front rooms! We were 2 floors up, it was perfect

Right on the beach, with wonderful ocean views. We had a huge poolside room which was great for the kids and had 2 kings ( ~$289). Staff were very helpful, nice buffet breakfast. Plus the bottled water in the room was actually free!
Only minor cons were that the beds were overly soft and the floors very thin- easy to hear folk upstairs walking about.

Wonderful location, charming village with good restaurants. The hotel is lovely -- not fancy, but everything is so comfortable and tasteful. The staff are efficient and friendly; the breakfast, while continental, has plenty to choose from and is tasty. The hotel is situated overlooking the ocean and the views from our room were very nice. Our only VERY small complaint was that the A/C or heat blower was a little noisy -- otherwise, this was a perfect stay! Try it! They deserve it!

Room Tip: upgrade yourself to a room with a small seating area -- very comfortable and the differnce is price...
