Omni La Costa Resort & Spa

This is a beautiful resort. Expansive grounds with massive golf course, spa pavillion and alot of rooms.

Perfect spot for a conference or a family get together (there were a heap of families here).

I felt that it was a touch expensive for what i paid, but it was nice.

This is a resort so there is always a walk to get somewhere.

There is a shopping mall near the entrance to the resort that has a starbucks, thai restaurant and a supermarket if you need any eseentials.

Its only 10 minutes to Carlsbad airport.

If you are flying in/out of San Diego it can take up to 3 hours with bad traffic or 45 minutes on a good run in.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view. mine was of the service drive way to the tennis club.

Terrific if you have kids who love the pool and water slides. Rooms are fine (nothing fancy), but perfect for a family vacation (not very modern, you can tell when Omni took over they fixed up the rooms as much as they could without completely re-doing the whole hotel). Staff is very courteous and grounds are great. Location is very convenient. Like many resorts, very expensive "add-ons" ($7 for a slice of pizza in the store, expensive drinks around the pool, $9 for fries, etc.)

This hotel is disgusting! For the amount of money spent at this place, you shoud have a wonderful experience and we did not!! First, the room smells like old people and to make matters worse there was mold in our vents and the air conditioning did not work. It took 90 minutes to get towels at the pool. The food area by the garden pool closes at 4:00pm! That is ridiculous. Check in is at 3 - so if you want to swim at a quieter pool you have to order room service and spend $75 for 2 hot dogs, chicken strips, and a burger. They make you pay $18 for parking just to subsidize their members of the club. The pool area is packed because this isn't just a hotel but a members only golf club. Worst place I have ever stayed!!

one of the most beautiful landscapes and grounds of any hotel i have ever been to, and you will be on the grounds a lot, fantastic spa services, golf course, state of the art gym and pools, gracious staff and common rooms super, guest room a little dated but perfectly adequate, best rooms are top floor rooms with vaulted ceilings, the only major negative was the restaurants. one would expect a wide variety of food with all sorts of health options and varied california cuisine of all sorts. The food was a bummer. they need to really step that up. Having said that there are many great restaurants in the area that are a few minutes drive, but had the food been better at the resort I would have never left.

This property was recommended to me and on the surface it looks great, however the property is just to big and the care factor of the staff and attention to detail of a "5 star" resort" lacks the expense of the property. I discussed my many issues and problems with a member of the management team and was given a free night, however it was not about the money it was about the experience. Better places to stay in the area. Try the Four Seasons or Park Hyatt.

WARNING- do not come here for the pool. They oversell memberships to locals and there is literally no room in the pool for hotel guests. It is so crowded that the water is murky. Not sure where else to start- tried to check in at 3, didn't get a room til 5 ( after I went to the front desk to complain), room is crawling with ants, mattress is so old that the springs are flat, etc., etc. Just want to cry- everything else in the area is sold out so we're stuck here.

I found this hotel disappointing. I was hoping for a great family destinaton hotel and to get a massage. In the evening when we went to swim one pool was closed and there were no towels. Someone eventually found some room towels but seemed like poor planning. Kids menu was very poor and expensive. Kids activities were a sad day care type place for smaller kids and an arcade where I could pay someone hourly to watch my son armed with a fistful of purchased tokens play games. Neither of my kids were interested so no massage. Will not be back. Very expensive for a mediocre experience. Very friendly staff.
