This is a beautiful property. I would give it 5 stars, but they need to make some upgrades to some areas of it. Most of the lounge chairs at all of the pools, were very stained and dirty. Many walls in the common areas are smudged and need painting. However you will be able to enjoy the beauty of the landscaping, and there is plenty to do. Just expect to do a lot of walking, it is a huge property and you will be walking a distance from your room to anywhere you want to go (pools, restaurants, lobby, spa). The food in the Marketplace and the Cafe were very good. The Spa was lovely. Check in was crazy as they had a huge group checking in, and another checking out. This same group bought out the Adult pool area and shut it down to guests who were not part of the group, which was very disappointing. They did comp us spa passes for us after we complained.

Room Tip: There is a section of Villa rooms that are right next to the very busy city street, ask to be away f...

La Costa Resort is a beautiful piece of property but it's good idea to check what season it is before you decide on this resort. We were there in late July and we didn't realize this resort is an extremely popular resort for families during the summer. We've been here before but it was last fall when apparently, it was low season.

Normally this resort is excellent and it's not their fault they're so popular but the crowds were large and it appeared the resort did not hire extra workers. The swimming pools, the restaurants, the coffee shop-market place, and the valet pick-up/drop off all had long lines. I understand this, however, past experience had no waits.

Staff were extremely friendly and apologized profusely for any delays which we appreciated and they helped make our experience a pleasant one. Our room was beautiful, clean, and quiet. The food and bar service was excellent, the golf was excellent, and the views were perfect.

I'd recommend this resort and we'll be staying here again....just know before you go, that it's extremely crowded during the summer.

This Hotel was great! First impression at the bell stand, the staff was very friendly and willing to help. Check-in was smooth, Matt was very pleasant. The guest rooms were clean and actually smelled fresh. Service across the board was exceptional. For a meeting planner like me, it is rare to find a great property with exceptional staff!!

This resort even smells good! Set beautifully amid the golf courses. The staff is very courteous and the rooms are well appointed. The villa rooms are beautiful. Large rooms and rainfall shower. We stayed in 6511 right by a secluded hot tub area on the first floor with an outdoor patio. It's worth the extra cost for the villa.

I booked two nights in one of the more expensive rooms at this resort and then made the mistake of reading other reviews on this site. Hence, I was expecting the worst, even though I had once visited this resort a few years ago.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience: my room was lovely and clean, the resort was beautiful and well-maintained, and the staff was all very pleasant (except maybe for some of the staff in the Marketplace--could stand to be a little nicer).
Although there was a mistake with my room, the front desk staff ended up fixing the problem fairly quickly and moving me to the room that had been described in my confirmation e-mail, with a minimum of fuss.
There are always lots of activities going on, and even though I didn't participate in much I still enjoyed all the energy at this resort.
The pools ARE very crowded, I will warn other readers. Even the "adults only" pool, which unfortunately seemed to have quite a few under-21 people sneaking in, was overly crowded. However, I visited over a weekend, so this was not a complete surprise.
Overall a great resort and one that I would love to visit again and again!

Nice hotel, clean and friendly staff. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and the hotel had a great gesture they delivered a bottle of wine and chocolates to our room. Valet parking was great. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We recommended to others.

What a beautiful vacation. The room was great and people were friendly. So many different areas/pools to enjoy this property. We also took a day trip to LaJolla to broaden our experience. Would recommend this highly.
