We felt as if we were in a European, family-operated Villa Hotel. Be aware that this is a VERY dog-friendly hotel and the doggies are allowed in many of the public areas, so if you aren't comfortable with that, go elsewhere. Our dog was with us and she loved being among canine friends.

The hotel is well-located in the heart of downtown Carmel yet is a 10-minute walk to the beach. It's in an old stucco building with lots of charm and funky but comfortable rooms. The 'large continental breakfast' includes scrambled eggs, toasted bagels or bread, fruit and coffee. The lunch and dinner offerings are tasty and the atmosphere is lively and fun. Locals often drop in for drinks or meals, adding to the family-style ambience.

Very dog friendly!!! Stayed there a few times. Rooms very nice and clean. Entertainment on the weekend was great and all the animals are welcome to attend. Small buffet breakfast included in the morning. Afternoon tea and dinner was more than expected.

What a great place to stay!!!right in the middle of everything Carmel has to offer...The staff makes you feel like you're at home...in no small part due to Fiona---she's the best!!!!!! walking distance to shopping, the beach and all the restaurants-----the hotel is owned by Doris Day --there's all sorts of movie memorabilia in the halls--its extremely pet friendly--you can sit at a table with your pet and have coffee etc--its clean as can be--i love this place!!!!! Stay here...you'll thank me later.
There's a sitting room with a piano/sometimes singers pop and the room becomes alive---you will like this place.

I am a thirteen year old Pembroke Corgi whose bucket list included vacationing at the Cypress Inn. My owners decided to indulge me to a two night stay at this place I call Nirvana. The room was wonderful, quiet and included a bed and bowls for me. My owners must have enjoyed the comfort of their bed, as they slept like rocks. Every morning we took a short walk to the beach where I frolicked off leash. Fantastic shopping was directly outside our door. But dining at Terry's Lounge was surreal! Imagine lying at the feet of your owners in a lounge filled with at least 20 of your newly acquainted canine buddies of all sizes, shapes and breeds! You might think that all of us doggies in close quarters would misbehave. Not so. We were all well-mannered (the only rowdies were group of golfers from Texas who imbibed just a tad too much). The staff was very attentive to me. I'm already planning my return trip.

Beautiful property, centrally located in Carmel. Welcoming staff and a simple, but nice breakfast that can be enjoyed in the lovely courtyard. In the evening, enjoy a cocktail at Terry's Bar, then relax in the sitting room while listening to a very entertaining standards singer with a piano accompanist. We'll be back!

Carmel is a dog friendly town, but the epitome of dog friendly is the Cypress Inn. My guess is that most of the guests have dogs and you can bring them almost anywhere. All are well behaved and it is easy to make friends and have conversations with other dog owners. The rooms are nice the staff is great.

We didn't stay here since they require a 2 night stay on weekends, but we had drinks and later dinner. The lounge was very cozy and relaxing with plenty of dogs around. The hotel is very clean and does not smell like dogs at all. This was our first trip with our little dog and had so much fun!! Dinner was outside on the patio since we didn't have a reservation(could have eaten inside) so it was a little chilly. There were only 2 other couples outside so we had the place to ourselves. It was beautiful with the twinkle lights and flowers. The waitress was wonderful and we had a great time talking with her. Hopefully we can stay here next time.
