“A Lovely Retreat”
Reviewed 21 August 2004

We have stayed here twice and look forward to the next time. We've stayed in one of the townhouses (before having children) facing the meadow as well as one of the stable rooms (which was very spacious for us and our 2 children). Views of grazing sheep and the ocean renewed our sanity and tranquility. We slept like rocks in the most amazing bed! It was so comfortable that we asked the staff for details so that we could buy for ourselves. The fireplace in the townhouse was so cozy. With the flip of a light switch, we had a gorgeous fire. What more could one ask for? The soap, shampoo, etc. were spa quality. Staff was friendly. Food in the restaurant was a good experience and we loved feeling like locals while there. It is a popular spot for locals and the people singing around the bar made for a festive evening. The landscaping on the property is just gorgeous and we posed for a picture by the pickup truck that Mr.Eastwood drove in the movie "Bridges of Madison County". The Mission Ranch feels like a laid back place with just enough ammenities to make one comfortable and if you are looking for a relaxing retreat, this is the spot.

Three days and two nights of pure peacefulness. Large room with king bed , jacuzzi tub for two, huge deck overlooking a wide spread, green meadow with sheep grazing on it, and near the horizon was a view of the pacific ocean. Dinner at their cozy and quaint resturant was another great experience.Gormet food and terrific service, while eating outside on their deck with the afore mentioned view. Many sites to see in Carmel, Monterey, Pacific Grove and of course many wines to taste in the many wineries in Carmel Valley. Go and enjoy yourself to the fullest.

My daughter and I just returned from a stay at the Ranch and absolutely loved it. The rooms were charming, the grounds breathtaking, the staff helpful and very friendly. We had a fabulous dinner followed by drinks at the bar with John, the hysterical laid-back bartender. The best part of the day was definitely having cocktails on the patio watching the sunset. We met so many interesting people and even sat at a table next to Clint! We are hoping to go back again and again and again...

If you want luxurious accommodations, this is not the place for you. If you want serene beauty, rustic charm, and good, old-fashioned steak and potatoes fair then come to Mission Ranch. I found the staff to be helpful and courteous. The rooms were large, clean and all had spectacular views. The prime rib was delicous, the portions more than I could handle and the drinks were excellent. Locals populate the restaurant and are a lively bunch, so if you want a quiet, romantic meal then head down the coast to Rocky Point Restaurant. Mr. Eastwood made the rounds, greeting his guests on the night we were there. The Sunday Jazz Champagne Brunch was excellent and well worth the price.

My husband and I have had dinner and/or drinks at the Ranch for years, but we didn't actually stay overnight at the Mission Ranch Inn until our honeymoon 2 years ago. We loved our honeymoon stay so much that we have decided to go back every year for the Monterey Jazz Festival. The location is really convenient (beats driving all the way to Big Sur after a night of partying), and the entire atmosphere around the place during the festival weekend is warm and welcoming. Also, any time of the year that we've been there the locals have shown some talent and have really belted out the tunes. Along with the Prime Rib and the acquaintenances we've made here over the years this is what we enjoy most of all.

Nice place, quiet and cozy, good food at the restaurant. There is a little cottage but the loft is great. You can actually see Clint if he is in town.
