“Terrific Value and Location”
Reviewed 9 April 2008

Stayed for one night on our way to Big Sur based on the reviews on TripAdvisor. Nothing fancy, but a great location (short walk to our restaurant) and we had a small balcony overlooking Ocean Ave. Very clean, spacious room and a great price for Carmel!

This is a great value in Carmel! We had a great time in Carmel and the Lobos Lodge was charming and comfortable. Highly recommended. No high end amenities but the beach is only a few blocks away and the lodge is in the middle of all the shops and restaurants.

I called the Lobos Lodge from the road on the way up the Pacific Coast Highway and the person I spoke with, Dave, could not have been nicer. There were 4 of us traveling, we booked two rooms one King and one with 2 doubles. They were extremely reasonable, so much so that I was a little nervous. When we arrived, WE LOVED IT! Very spacious rooms, big bathrooms, couch with coffee table, small table and chairs and a faboulous gas fireplace! The rooms on the top floor had vaulted ceilings and felt very spacious. They even delivered a breakfast of orange cranberry scones and fresh fruit with orange juice to get your day started. Wish we could have stayed longer. We will be back to Carmel someday and we will most certainly stay at the Lobos Lodge!!!

So close to the ocean use can hear the waves from your room. Very clean and updated rooms with fireplaces and a continental breakfast. You cannot find a better location or value in Carmel.

After reading the reviews, I had to be in town for the Concours on the Avenue in 2007. Instead of booking the hotels they recommended, which were in the $200 dollar plus range, I decided to book the Lobos Lodge, which was ranked higher on this here website. I was absolutely pleased that I made the decision to stay here.
The rooms are clean, some of them are more spacious than others, but all are adequate. A friend of mine, admittedly got a much nicer room with a sitting area and a much larger bed space. We booked at the same rate, so there is some variability in room size. The furniture is adequate, carpets clean, and the bathrooms in both rooms were quite large. They each have a separate shower and toilet room and then a sink area. My room had an exceptionally large bathroom area with excellent lighting. The beds were comfortable, the t.v.s worked, although no pay per view, and each room has a fireplace. Quite a charming place.
I paid about 140 a night on a weekday during the busiest week of the year. The staff were friendly and the location is unbeatable, right at the bottom end of the "strip" in carmel and that much closer to the beach.
This is a true gem, priced 50 to 100 dollars less than some comparable properties, and totally suitable in all ways. Not a luxury property. I am a snob and would normally book a 5 star over a 2.5 or 3 star like this, but for the value, I would be hard pressed to stay at L'Auberge Carmel or Tickle Pink for the extra money.

Thanks for the great recommendation fellow TripAdvisors.

  • Liked — Great Value, Clean Comfortable Rooms
  • Disliked — Curt front desk staff at check in (although they softened), room size variation

This is quite a good place for the price. The location is excellent in that you can walk easily to everything in the village. We booked 2 rooms a king and a queen. The king room was very big with a separate sitting area, fireplace, private patio and big bathroom. I was worried it would be dark because we went down some steps to get to it but it was fine. The queen room also had a fireplace but was a much smaller room but was pleasant and had a large bathroom.
The front desk staff were quite nice and helpful. A small breakfast (muffin, fruit and juice) is delivered to your room at a pre-arranged time.
