“Great hotel”
Reviewed 13 December 2013 via mobile

We stayed in the Cypress cottage. Lovely, clean, charming and a great location. Excellent breakfast and very friendly inn keeper. Beautiful breakfast room. The only thing that keeps me from giving this place full marks is some chaos upon our departure. The inn keeper was away and the people working the office were unable to check us out. Other than that, it was great.

We extended our stay at the Green Lantern from 2 to 4 nights recently, partly because of our desire to see more of Carmel and surrounding area, but mostly because of the warmth and hospitality that was extended to us from everyone working at the inn. The breakfast was great, afternoon snack welcoming, and the bed was very comfortable! We will definitely return to Carmel, and the Green Lantern Inn, and will recommend it to to others! Thank you!!

The Green Lantern is our 2d favorite B & B in Carmel.... by a 50.1 to 49.9 vote. It is in a great location, just south of Ocean Avenue and a short walk to the beach and the restaurants. It is very quiet. There is ample parking (no small concern in Carmel.) But it is pricey and because it is Carmel-funky-long-in-the-tooth I can see why folks would say WTF?

So, let me explain. If you want ultra luxury stay in Carmel Valley or at the Hyatt. This is a comfy place. Nice room, nice bed, free wifi, little cottages on the grounds, a few water features, and the heat is supplied by the gas fireplace. That means .... ahem .... the bathroom is pretty damn cold on a cold morning. If that bothers you, don't stay here. But from our deck we could see the sunset. How cool was that?

The breakfast is fine. There is a nice-sized common area/breakfast room. The "happy hour" snacks are not the best and there is no wine (unlike other B & B's), but really: buy a bottle of wine, keep it in the fridge in your room and sit in the garden or on your balcony and drink it.

The people are vey, very nice.

So I give this four thumbs-up. I would stay here again. But, and this is important, if you think that a B & B in Carmel that charges what they charge is going to be uber-trendy .... fuggetaboutit. That is not what Carmel is all about.

Went to Big Sur for a wedding and set up a room here. The staff was very accomodating. We came in at 4:00am and they were very easy to work with to get us into our room.

Room was very quaint and old school, but as expected and enjoyable. The location was very convenient and provides great access to local shopping as well as a good location to go for a run. I would stay there again if we went back.

I hesitate to talk about this one, but I will share with you. My wife and I have visited 5 times over the past few years. It's a funky place and if you don't like funk, then go somewhere else. We like the cute cabins and the interesting lay out. The people are very friendly, it comes with a nice breakfast in a warm room with fireplace glowing and is a short walk to downtown and the beach.
We seem to meet people who are mostly returning visitors like us and always have interesting discussions over breakfast. It's a nice place to get away for a night or two and we live less than an hour away, but feel like we've had a nice relaxing vacation.

Room Tip: They have an excellent website with detailed information about each room.

We stayed for one night in October2013 on our road trip around California. We wish we had time to stay longer. We had a great welcome from the lovely lady in reception who looked after us during our stay and was so friendly and helpful. nothing was too much trouble for her, she helped everyone.
The cottage was too levels (cypress) it was quaint. too big beds one on each floor. Wooden cottage had all the main facilities. Beds were comfortable. the fire in the room kept us nice and warm. Perhaps it needed some paint in places but it was part of the character. I don't thing that the upper level be used by older clients of children as the stairs are very narrow and need great care.
The hotel is in a perfect location to explore the village and beach together with 17 mile drive. Great Shops and restaurants in easy walking distance. Breakfast was good and coffee as always available as was snacks.
A lovely but different hotel with great staff in the right location and ample parking. They had a special offer which was fantastic but I would be more than happy to pay the full price.
We would definitely stay again and recommend it to all. The best hotel and staff on our trip (we stayed at some at $600 per night in San Francisco) and what a location. Thank you

Room Tip: Great rooms with character but if split level just check the stairs are suitable. very quiet.
