“Average Hotel - Parking a Problem”
Reviewed 2 September 2014

Not really an Inn or B&B more of an older hotel - which is ok. Booking was actually great Robin very helpful - rest of the staff when we were there not so much. Parking a huge issue they have 7 spots for the 20 rooms - and make you feel like it's your fault for not parking when you get there and not moving. The final night we drove around for hours looking for a spot finally parking about 9 blocks away. Front desk not helpful or empathetic about this what so ever.

Location is good - walk to just about anything. Room clean and like I said 36 has a lot of space and a glimpse of the ocean.

Room Tip: Room 36 has a view and is larger than most.

Cute & quaint cottage property amid well groomed gardens. Many cottages w Dutch doors. All rooms have the namesake fireplace. Quiet even though property on a well traveled street. Standard continental breakfast not worth getting up for. Front desk staff can be abrupt when stressed. Good central location to/from Ocean Ave. but private parking limited.

Room Tip: Choose rooms closer to back of property on main floor vs. upstairs along with better accessibility t...

we stayed here for 2 nights. Room was very large with an extra large bed, so much room to move. Fireplace added a romantic touch. Staff were very friendly. Offers off street parking and free wifi. Breakfast of coffee, pastries and fruit is provided. Close to all main street shops etc.Cute little place to stay.

Our family rented a small cottage ( had 2 bedrooms,1.5 baths, living room and full kitchen) with the Carmel Fireplace Inn for 2 nights. We were so very pleased with the kind service and fabulously clean cottage. I could not have asked for more! We were located 1 block from downtown and could walk to dinner and shops. Carmel was quiet but busy, Carmel is overflowing with art and foods. I highly recommend. One word or warning, post office does not open until 10am.....but that was okay too.

Room Tip: Cottages are perfect for families and great value.

This quaint and charming Inn has been a favorite of ours over the last 20 years! Lisa who was working at the front desk was particularly helpful in assisting us in selecting our room and in helping us find nearby sites! She really went out of her way to make sure that we had a comfortable stay!! We really loved her attentive service!

The only limitations of this site is that the WiFi was intermittent and the breakfast selection is not diabetic friendly as no protein foods are served. When we first started coming to the inn 20 years ago, the breakfast also included quiche, yogurt and a much wider selection of fruits.

Nevertheless, the Fireside Inn remains a charming, comfortable place to stay that we believe is an excellent value!

Room Tip: We stayed in the San Luis 2 bedroom room, which is decorated in beautiful blue tones and is light an...

The Inn from the exterior is beautiful! The flowers and lobby area are stunning and create a wonderful atmosphere, but the rooms themselves could be better. Our room was standard for the price and seemed as if we were staying at a motel rather than an expensive Inn. We even had a large spider in our room that came out from behind the fireplace! Overall it was okay. The breakfast is continental and okay, just the regular food options, nothing spectacular or over the top!

We stayed in one of the corner rooms on the 2nd floor with one side facing the street and the other - the parking lot. The location is ideal for the price (got a Livingsocial deal)- close to the beach and the old town. The room looks old (circa 70s wall paper boarder) but generally clean and I especially enjoyed the fireplace during the cold evenings. They have old stash of VHS movies incase you forgot what year it is in these parts.
Skip the breakfast and go down to one of the breakfast/brunch places nearby instead. We enjoyed breakfast at Em Le’s Old Carmel Restaurant.
