“Disappointing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

Terrific location. The receptionist was wonderful - very welcoming and most helpful. Our room was disappointing. Very small and basic to say the least - guess I expected a little more charm. The room was clean. Breakfast was delivered in a basket. Minimal to say the least. Had to use the in-room coffee maker. Only enough coffee for one cup each of caffeinated coffee was provided and one each of yogurt - unappetizing muffins, protein type bar and fruit.

Room Tip: Carmel is expensive - this is a relatively inexpensive option but it is very basic.

It was tight for our family of three, but then again we are just lying our heads there at night. Casa de Carmel is located in the heart of Carmel so all you really need to do is park your car and walk. Each morning yummy muffins, yogurt and juice were dropped off at the door for us. They had a lovely happy hour each night for the guests. Parking is a little tight if you have an over sized SUV like we did, then you might have to park on the street. One morning was very noisy and that was trash pick up day.

Dear Quaint in Carmel

Thank you very much for your kind review our our establishment, we sincerely appreciate when guest take the time to review our Inns, good, bad or indifferent, as they provide us with much valuable and needed assistance with the operations of our Inns. Service is of course our most valuable tool, we are proud when we have met our guest expectations, but strive to exceed them.

We understand the problems with the size of our rooms and the unfortunate early pickup service for the waste companies, but it is very nice to hear these items did not impact your stay with us. We hope we will have the pleasure of a return visit sometime and wish you and your family well.

Very nice small inn . Conveniently located in downtown Carmel. Park your car and leave it. Very helpful desk with suggestions for dinner and lunch places in Carmel. Breakfast basket delivered to room every morning with fruit, yogurt and pastries. Our room #5 was large with king bed on the end upstairs with limited view of ocean. Very clean. Would stay again and with Groupon deal was a good value

Room Tip: #5 upstairs. Large room with king bed

Our little room was on the ground floor of the Casa de Carmel and was what you would expect from a nice motel (not really a hotel) - small but clean, the sheets even had the mild smell of bleach. If you're in Carmel, you pay more for the basics. This place reminded me of that.

The receptionist was incredibly nice. She walked us to our room across the street (check in is at the Monte Verde Inn) even though it was pouring rain. There was a complimentary decanter of sherry in the room which was a nice touch. And the breakfast basket is left at your door first thing in the morning (juice, yogurt, rolls, croissants and packets of jelly). The room has a coffee maker with packets of coffee.

What I didn't like was the noise. The walls seem to be paper-thin and I don't know WHAT was going on outside, but the noise level was crazy. It was okay at night but starting at dawn, it was so loud that my husband and I couldn't do anything but laugh. There was no way we could sleep through it.

Warning: the tap water comes out scalding hot instead of warm. They need to fix that before someone gets badly burned.

My wife and I spent our Thanksgiving holiday here with our dog. From the time that I called to check on availability the Inn manager, Leora Sanchez, was extremely helpful and pleasant to work with. She helped us choose between this property and their sister property located across the street. Both are small Inn's with unique character.

Our room was very nice and comfortable. The hotel allows dogs, but you wouldn't know it as they do a very good job of cleaning and keeping the room in great condition. We enjoyed the room, and with at dutch door, we could open the top part for a nice breeze, and keep our dog contained in the room. They allow guests of the Casa de Carmel to use the patio of the Monte Verde Inn, so if you have an upstairs room, you have a nice place to sit outside and relax.

The location of the hotel is perfect, it's right off of the main street (Ocean), at the southern end of the shopping area, and a very close walk down to the main beach. They serve a light breakfast, pastry, yogurt, fruit and juice for breakfast. It was almost like they knew when we were awake as we never had to wait for them to place the tray by our door, even though we had a different schedule each of the two mornings.

Great location, nice rooms, wonderful staff, all around an fantastic visit.

Room Tip: As for a downstairs room so you get a small table and two chairs to sit on.

Arrived late at night but this place is easy to find. Greeted by a really helpful receptionist who gave me a lovely room-very clean and comfortable with a modern bathroom. Good continental breakfast. The only slight downside is noise from the road but that's just during the day; it was very peaceful through the night.

Quaint, small B&B,on two properties across from each other. Park and walk to stores and all restaurants in downtown Camel,a small village. Some street traffic can be heard from room, since Inn is located on a downtown side street. Very personable ,informative Innkeeper, who clearly loves her job. Rooms exactly as pictured on site, immaculate and homey.
