“Nice to have Quail Lodge reopen again!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 November 2013

We decided to return to Quail Lodge after it reopened this year after undergoing renovations. We enjoyed the quiet ambience of the Lodge and the spacious rooms. Ironically we stayed in the same room before the renovations. Unfortunately they didn't correct the showers where water seeped under the glass door every-time it was used. That didn't ruin our stay as it was but a minor thing when compared to the positives of staying at the Lodge. The staff is very welcoming and friendly and the convenient location of the Lodge makes going to Carmel, Pebble Beach, Monterey and the many outstanding restaurants so close.

Room Tip: Rooms on the golf course side are nice and quiet.

We showed up for what was going to be a two day stay, but after one night, we decided to extend our stay. Our family enjoyed the presidential suite: 15 foot ceilings, two private patios, rainfall shower, fireplace, and beautiful sitting area. The staff here were wonderful, attentive, and personable. Make sure to stroll around the grounds and enjoy the tree covered mountains surrounding the golf course. Bocce ball courts are fantastic if you want to show your 14 year old who's still the boss! ;) This makes for an incredibly relaxing stay, and when you long for the beach, it's a five minute drive away.

My husband and I were so happy with this wonderful lodge. It was our first time going. We actually don't play golf (but are interested in playing one day) but this was one of the more reasonably priced highly-rated resorts in the area. We do play tennis and they had courts, but only one of the courts was worth playing on. The other tennis court surface was not smooth due to the cracks in the surface. We drove to Carmel so we didn't mind being further from some of the more popular destinations. We had booked a king-sized room but when we arrived, they told us that there was an error with the booking so the young woman at the front desk upgraded us to their presidential suite which was so huge and nicely appointed with a private patio, fireplace in a sitting area, and a huge bathroom suite that also had an interesting private sitting area outdoors. The staff was so hospitable and nice and it was very quiet and relaxing. It was about a ten minute drive to the heart of Carmel-by-the-Sea where the shops, beach, and galleries were but since the parking was easy, it didn't bother us at all to be more on the outskirts. Breakfast was included but they don't have a full breakfast and if you prefer eggs and other high-protein breakfast items, you will probably be better off with checking out the wonderful restaurants in town. Overall it was a great stay and we can't wait to go back.

Having had a week of seaside hotels we wanted something different and chose to stay here on a golf course. We booked a second floor fireside room and we have to say it was exceptional. It. Was large, comfortable, had a safe, free wifi, balcony, and an excellent view over the lake. The hotel also benefits from a pool and fitness suite. Putting is available on an excellent set up and the hotel will provide free balls and putter. Breakfast is good sitting inside our out by the lake.

So why only 4 stars? Well we had some maintenance issues. Our outside patio light would not work and it took three request for action before we were told it needed a new part which was on order. Interestingly during reporting this for the second time the receptionist said that the way these lights are turned on and off is by taking the bulb out!! The other area where we felt let down was the restaurant at the golf club. Although the hotel booked the table for us, they omitted to tell us that by taking along a card from the we could have15 per cent discount.

Despite all this if we are ever in the area we would go there and would recommend it to others.

Room Tip: We enjoyed our fireside room 224 overlooking the lake. Be aware that the fire has a pilot light on...

I stayed here on a company event and really enjoyed the location tucked away from the coast in Carmel. It is not "Oceanside" and is back in little quiet valley. I golfed at a local course but not the Quail Lodge and we had a great time overall.

The pro's:
Spacious rooms, showroom like bathroom, close to ocean and valley, scenic property.

The Con's:
Couldn't come up with any... had a 100% positive experience here but we did not eat on site so cannot comment on food setup although I imagine it would be in line with other amenities.

A must play course if you are in the Carmel area. We did not stay here , but did play golf this afternoon. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Course in great shape, fast greens, all for a reasonable price, $125.00 for non guest. Will return again.

Quail Lodge is a gem. The rooms we stayed in were fantastic! They faced the 14th Fairway and were big and well appointed. The bathroom alone was bigger than most rooms we have rented in some San Francisco Boutique Hotels!! The staff was very attentive and the Bar was a great gathering place. You can't go wrong. Golf was just the icing....with a Lodge Guest rate that made us smile.

Room Tip: Around the putting greens......one story rooms.
