Not good. An attempt at fun but not delicious or even tasty. The regulars were ordering pancakes, maybe thats what we should have done. Even the coffee was disappointing.

As other reviewers mentioned, after spending a fortune on food during our CA trip, we stopped in Carmel for lunch and sightseeing, expecting more of the same. We were starving and noticed a sign for cheap burgers and fries on a cute corner building, so we stopped. Immediately we were greeted by possibly the owner?/cook with jokes and he introduced us to other random guests in the restaurants that he had been chatting up. Extremely friendly & funny man- he talked and joked with our youngest daughter, gave us a map of the town and some travel suggestions for continuing our journey. Even better than the atmosphere was the food- tried the "Thanksgiving Preview" sandwich and it was great. The prices were also reasonable. Also -even though we arrived a little late for breakfast, the super kind man made my youngest a pancake at her request! Great service, great food, great prices...couldn't ask for anything else :)

After spending tons on food over the past week, we so appreciated Friar Tucks. A nice little gem in Carmel. Prices were great and the food was excellent. The hotdog hamburger was great according to one person in our party. It was nice to have soda at a reasonable price. Grilled cheese was wonderful.

A refreshingly low key spot in Carmel. The burgers are excellent. Breakfasts are too.

The staff and the owner are delightful, welcoming, and funny.

Can't wait to return!

After enjoying all the chic and trendy Carmel has to offer, sometimes you just want a nice juicy burger, stick to the ribs grilled cheese, and/or big diner breakfast ... Friar Tucks is that place. Had a really great time here - sure, it’s a “greasy spoon” kind of place but with character and good grub! Speaking of characters, the owner/cook is truly one - super nice, funny, warm and welcoming. Go here.
