If you are in Carmel, the Mission Ranch is a must. The sheep grazing in the meadow and the ocean in the distance is iconic Carmel. The food is decent, but you are there for the atmosphere. Expect to wait, but the hour and half we were expecting turned into 20 minutes - we were seated outside. The bar is bustling and there is live piano music. But sit outside for the view and enjoy.

Recommended by a local-not disappointing! Sat outside, a little chilly so bring a sweater. Good appetizers and drinks, just lovely surroundings and plenty of parking. Right in line with the whole carmel experience which is lovely.

This is a great place to go and see the sunset or just to listen to some piano while having a good wine. The food is good (wouldn't say it's the best I ever had) and the service was professional. Would go back again for a relaxing evening or to enjoy the sunset. Obviously you pay for the view, for the place itself, for the piano and so on.

First of all, I love this restaurant but beware...this is not a quiet conversation restaurant during the evening meal. It is a very popular and very well attended music fest every night. If you are AT ALL disturbed by loud music then ask for a table as far from the piano as possible. The loudest time is around 8 or 8:30 on. Outside is OK too. They have heaters and the scenery is great. The food is quite good and just a smudge on the high side cost wise... but this is Carmel. There is usually plenty of parking in their lots or on the street adjacent to the restaurant. They are not open for breakfast or lunch (except Sunday brunch, 35 dollars or so) just dinner, for the public. During non event weeks it is first come first serve. During event weeks like "car week" call ahead for correct info. I was there for Brunch two weeks ago and dinner recently on a Thursday. Brunch was very good and reasonable for what you get. Also, Clint Eastwood was there playing the piano. Again, call ahead for table info.

The bar opens at 4 PM for cocktails and they begin seating for dinner at 5. When you arrive they will give you a pager when your seat is available. I highly recommend getting there early to take in the wonderful atmosphere and view of the beach. This is a truly special place and the food was very good. They have outdoor seating with heaters if needed and also have a lot of indoor seating with music.
