We happened on the Forge for lunch and were charmed by the brick terrace and outdoor fire pit. Tables sit in dappled shade inviting diners to sit and linger.
The lunch menu carries several hearty appetizers, soups, salads, burgers, panini, sandwiches and pizzas. Hubby chose the duck empanadas, a two piece delicious, meaty appetizer served in flaky empanada crusts. These were followed by an order of house specialty Rueben egg rolls served on a bed of spicy cole slaw. I opted for the "award" winning seafood chowder and was not disappointed. Loaded with chunky seafood in a properly seasoned white cream base, it was filling and satisfying.
There is a full bar with specialty drinks and a solid wine list featuring California wines.
This is a lovely venue for a leisurely lunch..and, like most of Carmel, it is pet friendly.
