The coastal driving route offers little opportunity to experience the local attributes; Pebble Breach golf course, ocean front and real estate. Very disappointing especially when we needed to fork out $10 to drive thru the area. Shame.

Definitely worth the $10. Beautiful homes, water views and places for pretty fancy lunches. A fun way to travel between Monterey and Carmel.

A stop at Roy's restaurant at Spanish Bay for delicious clam chowder and a glass of crispy, cold sauvignon blanc (even better because of a $10 credit for your entry fee to the Drive!) capped off this spectacular drive. I could have spent all day watching (and listening to) the seals along the way.

The part of the drive between the Pacific Grove gate and the Carmel gate is great. You get wonderful views of the ocean and coastline, and you will see sea lions and seals. You'll make short work of the rest of the drive, but stop at the peak to see if you can see mountains, etc.

Pay the $10 so you get the pamphlet that explains what you're seeing. The $10 is refundable if you buy anything totaling $30 at the PBC resort. We went into the Tap Room and had a glass of wine each and that took care of it.

The stately and interesting homes along the drive, the Pebble Beach Golf Course, and just the peaceful and scenic Pacific Ocean. What else can you say!
