We (dog included) have stayed many times at Carmel Country Inn. It's a convenient walk to town yet away from the traffic and noise. Rooms are comfortable and the breakfast and all-day snacks are delicious. Amy takes very good care of her guests. I cannot stress the convenience of on-site parking enough. We always enjoy talking with the guests-most of whom have been staying for 10+ years. During busy events, you'll be grateful. Perhaps the best description of Carmel Country Inn is it's pleasantly consistent.

There is no air-conditioning which is fine since the cool breeze was great, but there are no screens on any of the windows so yes that meant bugs in the room. The mattresses are beginning to show their age and were not very comfortable. There was a car show in town and one guest was up at 6 and revving his car engine by 7 am. Ok I understand that this is a one-time occurrence, but wouldn't it have been great if the owner apologized for the inconvenience? No she was too busy talking to her friends about how she had to install lock boxes because "the tourists kept locking themselves out."

Yet even with the above negatives, the Carmel Country Inn is a nice place to stay about a 5 minute walk from downtown Carmel. We stayed in a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom suite which was very nice for our family of four. Breakfast was great with quiche, fresh fruit, oatmeal and a wide variety of breads and pastries. They even offered guests lemonade, cookies and several snacks during the afternoon before dinner. Check-in was easy and efficient and the staff member helped us with directions and ticket purchases for the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

So all in all a nice place, but I would probably look elsewhere next time.

As mentioned in previous management responses, not just on Carmel Country Inn's listing but the majority of other lodging properties in Carmel, the weather here is normally not conducive to having air conditioning and therefore, no lodging properties in Carmel or the Monterey Peninsula area have air conditioning, nor do we have screens, because we don't have bugs. Even new multi million dollar homes don't have screens, as we can personally attest to, as the owner if the inn is an award winning local builder, Chris Tescher.

Some guests are more mindful than others of the fact they are not the only people staying at the inn. That being said, noise is noise, if someone finds it offensive or extreme, there are emergency phone numbers in all the guest rooms and front lobby door. These same phone numbers can be accessed by anyone who locks themselves out of the room and with the new lock boxes, can get an instant code to get in their rooms without having to wait outside for someone to come to the inn and let them in their rooms.

We really liked the Carmel Country Inn.

We were not able to find parking in town, and I checked if we could come early and they let us check in and park at the hotel.

We had a King Suite, which had a Dutch door, which was really cute, and nice to get air in the room. The bathroom was huge, and the room was well appointed. Nice bed/bedding.

They had nice snacks and drinks out all day, and a great breakfast in the morning.

Pets were allowed, and they also gave us information on restaurants and other businesses that allow dogs.

This hotel had an extensive DVD library, and you could borrow DVDs to watch in your room for no charge.

The only issue we had at this hotel was the the WiFi did not work at all. It was difficult to not have access to the internet for planning the activities of our trip. The woman at the front desk tried her best, but the WiFi never worked.

Room Tip: The King Suite on the first floor next to the office was spacious.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review regarding your stay. Our wireless internet is state of the art and newly upgraded, We have options to reset the wireless it'self, but then the entire Comcast Cable/Internet network is down, we can not just "fix" it ourselves.

Our staff is well versed on the area and can always assist with activity options, directions and reservations.

We came for some quiet days during a round trip and found everything as expected. Foggy wheather and cold summerdays was not the responsibility of the nice little b&b place. The place is absolutely dog friendly as we've experienced during our stay. We've left our Jack Russell terrier in Germany but all other guests were accompenied by their friendly dogs.

Thank you for taking the time to write about our inn and thank you so much for realizing the weather is not our responsibility. Too often we get a lower rating do to weather or noise we have absolutely no control over. If you are back home as of yet, I'm sure your Jack Russell is glad to see you.

Very nice facility. Extremely helpful staff. Very nice "continental" breakfast. Above the normal fruit, cereal, etc, they had quiche. The fruit was fresh cut and plentiful. The coffee was available at all hours in addition to snacks. The pastries were a cut above. We had the smallest room, during a heat wave, with construction next door. The construction was not an issue as it did not start until after 8:00 am. There is no air conditioning, and I do not like heat, however, the provided fan and local breezes made it comfortable by night time. The room was very comfortable in terms of size and the bath was very nice. The location is good, several blocks from the downtown hubub, but only about 3-4 blocks from Ocean Ave. on Dolores which has numerous restaurants.

Thank you for your kind words about our inn. While weather in the summer is usually cool and foggy, as other reviewers have mentioned, we have had some warm days, and have tried our best to keep rooms cool with the addition of fans and keeping windows and dutch doors open prior to arrival (we don't have bugs here in Carmel)

We try to have something for everyone at our breakfast buffet and glad you enjoyed the selections.

We will keep coming back to Carmel Country Inn! Well maintained, comfortable, clean and friendly without being intrusive. Well priced for Carmel. Very relaxing in spite of some nearby construction this time. Didn't bother us a bit. Our Westie knew exactly where to head to as soon as she came in for her second visit. Guess she had fond memories of her first stay as well. Plan to come back again and again!

Room Tip: We love the Tree Top!

We thank you for taking the time to write a review and always love seeing friendly, familiar faces and their very important furry companions. It's as important to us to know that our pet guests feel welcomed and are excited to return, as it is of our human guests.

We have stayed at the Inn on five different occasions. Extremely friendly staff and so very helpful with dining suggestions and what is happening around town. Breakfast is served every morning in the cozy dining room or you can enjoy outdoor seating. Even Fido is welcome. Freshly baked cookies and snacks are provided for the guests. A variety of very nice rooms but we always have our favorite. Just a couple of blocks, an easy walk, to center of Carmel.

Room Tip: Construction is currently going on next door but we hardly noticed it. Top rooms with a great balc...

Thank you for your loyalty to Carmel Country Inn and taking the time to write a review. We love our pet guests and always look forward to them returning.

Thank you as well for mentioning the fact the construction next door was no bother. We have been alerting people for the last year that it would be happening, and am glad it was not bothersome to you. It is not our project, so we have no control over the schedule or noise.
