As you drive to the lodge part the golf course, lavender fields and bee hives you immediately relax. This us a special place. The lodge suite rooms are spacious with great views of the valley. Restaurant is very good for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Very quiet. Great for Carmel, 17 mile drive, big sur, San Simeon and Monteray whale watching.

Super hotel with very well kept facilities and grounds. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Plenty to do to keep active or great place to just relax for a few days. Hotel offers great views of surrounding areas. My only issue was a minor one at that, the breakfast was a bit on the pricey side. Still well worth the visit.

Thank you so much for your review and feedback. For breakfast, duly noted, and please know that we are always working on new and creative options for dining at the resort. In addition to our Lodge Restaurant, we are now offering breakfast at our Golf Clubhouse (featuring spectacular views I might add) and a lighter fare (breakfast burritos, muffins, etc..) at our River Ranch Cafe. We hope to welcome you back soon. Sincerely, Melanie Cooke, Manager

From DC touring the region on business (and pleasure) my wife and I were very pleasantly surprised to find such a terrific property. Being part of AMEX Platinum's Fine Hotel & Resort program, I knew the hotel must have been good. What we found was this: 1. beautiful ground and property, lovely lavender fields, vineyard, gold course and facilities (walking trails, pool, tennis courts, etc.) ... all with great proximity to Carmel and Monterey. Our room was great, like an apartment. From the outside, the "villa" which is what it felt like, seemed almost like a vacation home in the mountains. We wished we could have spent more time here! As an added bonus, our room rate through AMEX was less than $300. In addition, we received a credit sufficient to cover breakfast, a room upgrade, early check in and late checkout, and $100 resort credit. Now that's a pretty good deal! Enjoyed our stay; looking forward to returning again.

Room Tip: Request a "villa" with a direct view of the gold course.

The lodges and surrounding grounds are superb and the staff are great. The sport facilities are also good. Restaurant food was good but appeared to be little variation on the standard menu. A major disappointment was the exclusion of children from the large (and during our stay largely unused) pool closest to the accommodation which means making an expedition, albeit by efficient shuttle bus, to a pool which forms part of a country-club set-up at the bottom of the hill. That may well be an attraction for spa users and others with older or no kids but may not be ideal for families with younger kids. Great scenery and walks but shame that there are no cycles to use at the hotel.

Thank you for your review and suggestion for cycles. We have often thought of adding this feature, and we will certainly put it back on the list for discussion. I could not entirely tell from your comment, but I do hope you enjoyed our menu. Having an organic garden right on property does allow us some freedom to 'change it up a bit' with whatever fresh and wonderful produce is ready to be picked that day. I hope you got a chance to enjoy that. I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed with our separation of pools. You are correct in that the beauty of having an adult spa pool and second family pool allows for those who wish for a quiet and serene surrounding to coexist along with our more playful and boisterous ones! The intentions are truly well intended and I do apologize if that lessened your experience. We hope to welcome you back to the resort and thank you again for your review. We spent 2 nights here on our california roadtrip, this was our second stop after San Fran, and was a great way to relax after a hectic few days. The rooms were spacious yet cosy with the fireplace and amazing views, gorgeous bathrooms and bath products, we ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was exceptional.we planned on investigating the surrounding areas but ended up spending the 2 days at the ranch as there was so much exploring to do plus we spent one day by the pool which again was great fun for the whole family. Everyone was so friendly and I had the pleasure of meeting Melanie who works at the hotel who filled me in on all the good activities. She really cared about our thoughts of the place and you could tell the owners and staff spend a lot of time and effort to make sure all customers are happy. We were so sad to leave and will definitely be returning. (Wish it was closer to home so I could come once a month) already discussing our next trip, it's worth the 11 hour flight just for this place

Thank you so much for taking the time to post your review. It was a true pleasure to meet you and your family at River Ranch and to learn more about how you found us, what brought you here and most importantly - what you were enjoying while here. It was so nice to hear how your own business in the UK cares about customer service in very similar ways that we do. I am truly pleased you loved The Ranch and we hope to welcome you back again for a longer visit next time! Sincerely, Melanie Cooke, Manager

We just came back from a visit to the CVR, and it was fantastic. First off, they gave us a fee upgrade. We had a spectacular suite, where they made up the sofa in the living room for my 9 year old daughter. She has a flat screen in her room and we had the master with a fireplace and a flat screen as well.

The grounds are beautiful. Deer everywhere and we ever saw wild turkeys. We took a beautiful hike through blooming lavender, beautiful gardens, and even saw the new horseback riding area they are creating.

My wife and daughter did the bee experience and they will never forget it. Mr. Russo couldn't have been nicer and it was a wonderful time. Dinners were great at the ranch as well. We will definitely come back for sure!

Spent a couple of days relaxing here at the end of a San Fran/Lake Tahoe/Yosemite trip. We were meant to use it as a base to explore Big Sur but on arrival we pretty much didn't leave for 48 hours!

Suites were lovely, huge comfy bed, fireplace and large TV and bathroom was very large and spacious.

A great place to relax.

Service wasn't 100% perfect but the rooms and facilities made up for this.

Thank you for your review. Like many of our guests, once they arrive they realize how much there is to do and enjoy here, and plans change so they can stay at the resort for their entire vacation / holiday. I am sorry to hear about any service related issues however, and would love to know more about the details of your experience. While we admit the area and resort itself are breathtakingly beautiful, we believe it is the service that truly makes us special. Please contact me at 831-626-2548 if you would be open to providing more details. We would love the opportunity to be aware and correct whatever areas needed improvement. Thank you again, Melanie Cooke, Manager
