“Lovely Best Western”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

We stayed in about 8 Best Western and Best Western Plus hotels on our recent 8 week trip to USA. The Carpinteria Inn was our favourite. We had a quiet room on top floor overlooking courtyard. With our car it was a great alternative to Santa Barbara. Bar and restaurant were average but convenient.

We arrived early from LA to visit nearby beaches and hoped that we could check in at 3 (husband had to use the bathroom right when we excited from the freeway). The front desk clerk said that our room (2 queen beds) was not ready yet and I asked if anything else was available. Someone nearby heard (seemed to be the manager) and said that we could have a king room instead (an upgrade apparently), so that's what we ended up with, which was a nice gesture from the hotel.

Our room was 118 I think, on the first floor behind the front desk. The front door sticks a bit and we needed help from a maid to open the door. Our room had a french-style patio door at the back which lead to the central courtyard, a nice touch but difficult to lock when we exited the room to sit "outside." FYI- a strange drunken old man knocked on our door in the evening, thinking our room was his room, which lead to an awkward moment.

The bathroom was very narrow and I could barely sit on the toilet without feeling claustrophobic (I'm 5/7 and 125 pounds). If you're a larger person, or chubby like my mom and dad, then you might want to ask if there are rooms with a larger bathroom. Nice toiletries though.

This property is within walking distance of the beach (if you're not lazy) and a fine option for this area. Santa Barbara and Montecito are close by. We were slightly disappointed that there wasn't any sort of complimentary breakfast included, only coffee in our room. We made our reservation through Priceline and would stay again if we could snag that same deal, but we would not pay full price for this property.

I stayed here recently when driving back from San Fran to LA. The hotel has a really nice courtyard in the centre that you can sit in. Some rooms look out on to it. I had a room that looked out the other way, which was fine too. The hotel was fairly quiet and well maintained. The rooms were simple and clean. Its a pretty simple drive into Santa Barbara etc for things to do are there isn't too much right by the hotel. Overall, I would recommend.

After reading the reviews for this hotel we were skeptical about staying here. But after our condo rental for the week cut our reservation by a day, we figured we could stay here for one night even if it wasn't that good. We normally stay in four-star hotels. This one looks like a four-star from the outside and in the lobby area. It has an incredibly beautiful inner courtyard.
We got a ground floor room next to the pool, which we enjoyed. We had brought bikes, but the facility has no bike racks or place to lock them, so we took them into our room.
The room was decent and the bed comfortable with the usual amenities of a flat-screen TV, wall climate control, and complimentary shampoo and conditioner. Our room was quiet until the the people upstairs took a shower. The plumbing was unusually LOUD! The walls in the bathroom also needed some updating as the paint in the corners was pealing. It was definitely a step up from where we had been staying, so we were pleasantly surprised. It would have been better if they had included a free breakfast.

We stayed here on July 3 on a car trip up the Pacific Coast Highway. We have no complaints. The hotel seemed nice. The room was fine. We had a bed with two queens because our daughter was with us. The front desk folks were friendly. They did not charge ridiculous up charge for asking for two beds like the next hotel on our trip. The bed was comfortable to me. My husband thought it was a bit soft. I would definitely stay there again. It is about 10 minutes from Santa Barbara, much cheaper, and a very quaint town. We had breakfast at Jakes Famous Bagels. It was very good.

Room Tip: We had a courtyard facing room that was very nice.

Stayed here based on a friends previous positive experience at hotel. Clean, well maintained grounds. Hotel is an older hotel but my room was on par with newer hotels I have stayed in recently. Has great character, staff was nice, quick check-in and out. Beautiful courtyard in center of property, I wish I had more time to sit, drink or eat to enjoy the opportunity. Definetly would stay again. Stayed on July 3rd so prices were higher than usual, but they were everywhere. Location was great.

I stayed at this hotel and its spotlessly clean which means a great deal to me when on holiday, its comfortable, the rooms are nicely sized so you are not falling over your suitcases,we were on a fly drive and in America for 4 weeks and liked this hotel so we booked an extra 3 nights to explore.the restaurant that's situated in the hotel is quite good, the menu is varied and its reasonably priced.I would definitely stay in this Best Western again if I ever visit that part of the States again,i would say they cater from the young to the not so young.
