rolled into Santa Barbara around 7:30PM and decided to stay for a day. hit the internet for a cheap overnite hotel, and found out that doesn't exist in Santa Barbara. Only cheap hotels were all 25+ miles away, except for the sandy land reef inn. decided to grab it, because it was only 10 min away. easy access from the 101 frwy. parking lot is grungy, but a few guys were chilling out enjoying some corona's, and a couple people in the jacquzzi. inside the room was clean, nice flatscreenTV, clean bathroom. all the basics covered including free in room wi-fi, and 7-11 gas station down on the corner. the front desk clerk was awesome for advise on food/directions. but be warned, this town seems to shut down at 10PM. it was only 15 minutes with heavy morning traffic on hwy101 to get back into Santa Barara in the morning. I definitely recommend this place for the budget minded traveller. also turned out there's a motel 6 right next door for the same price.

We checked in on June 19, 2013 for one night. We needed a cheap place to crash after our drive from Yosemite. I fell asleep fully clothed on one bed while watching TV. My wife crashed in the other bed. In the morning after we checked out and were heading to LA she complained of several skin irritations which caused her to scratch. We later realized she had been bitten by bed bugs, The hotel office staff were fine. The car park was full of worker's trucks and I was expecting some noise but no, all was good. I never got in my bed so I can't comment on whether it was also infested.

We stayed at sandy land as a pitstop en route to Santa Barbara. We stayed in a room that had a lovely new bathroom and a huge comfy bed, slept so well in it!! There are renovations going on in other rooms, but this really didn't bother us.
Carpenteria is really small, so small it doesn't have it's own taxi company, this makes taxis expensive because they have to come from Santa Barbara which is about a 15 minute car journey away. There are however a couple of bars and restaurants in carpenteria.

The staff is very attentive to their customer's needs, as they renovate the rooms to upgrade the accommodations for upcoming summer guests.

I appreciate the manager's and staff's efforts to make my stay enjoyable and comfortable,

Room Tip: Reserve your room online, for best accommodations and value,.
